  • I really don't like writing my address down. And I'm the person who doesn't care if you tell me to bring a book or diapers to a shower. Even if it's not on an envelope, and you'll have to rewrite, I just don't like it. Also, I personally absolutely HATE addressing envelopes, but I feel like I can sort through all the addresses and deal with it if that person gave me a gift.
  • I would just hop on whitepages.com and find everyone's addresses on your own. If you can't find them, ask your mom to make some phone calls and find them. IMO it's weird to ask guests to write them down.

  • You could do a guest book that includes addresses at the shower.

  • I'd task your mom and aunt with getting addresses if at all possible since they're hosting.

  • I have been to showers baby wedding etc that I have had to write my address down and it totally rubs me the wrong way. I don't care if it's an envelope or a post it note - they took the time to find and buy a gift for you and you can figure out where they live.
  • I would have your family get the addresses before the shower.

I also agree that it is tacky to have the guests write their addresses on the cards. I mean, if you invited me to the party - obviously you know my address.

  • Yeah, I would ask mom/aunt if they know the addresses of people.  For the ones they don't I would track down myself.  I've done the white pages thing and it's not that time consuming as long as you know basic towns and names, etc.  The only hard part (for some people) is if they aren't listed on the bill (for example, one of my friends is not listed, it's  under her husbands' name even though they bought the house together, etc).
  • I second the guest book, I wouldn't be offended by that. Maybe it would help take the focus off the addresses if you made it a prediction game. People write when they think the baby will make his/her appearance, winner will have a gift card sent to her house!
