Spread the Word 3-5-14

Since there is much confusion about the r-word and -tard.  I don't know if I will ever stop crying.

Re: Spread the Word 3-5-14

  • (hugs)  It's one of those words that people use without even thinking how it affects others.  That doesn't make it hurt any less though.

that place where you can still remember dreaming?

  • I'm guilty of using the word loosely and I've definitely learned how inappropriate it is to use it. I'm embarrassed for ever saying it and I'm glad you posted this because it is a great reminder why we need to pay attention to the words we use.

  • I'm sorry that I didn't realize one of the words I used was a contraction. Not happening again now that I know better. And that's why I love campaigns like this one.

  • In a day and age were many of us "normal" folks are jaded, cynical, self-serving assholes, it should be considered a compliment to be called a "retard."

People with MR are often kind, sweet, and compassionate in ways that far too many of us could never understand. The world would be a much better place if we all took a little time each day to act like "retards."
