November 2014 Moms

CANNOT concentrate at work!!

I am really struggling with this. Got my BFP a week ago yesterday, and haven't been able to focus at ALL at work! It is bad because I have soooo very much to do and of course I can't let on yet. I feel sluggish and tired, and on top of that, all I feel like doing is thinking about the lil growing appleseed inside me and researching every tiny thing that pops into my brain about it!

Also I'm new at my job. I started just three months ago, and by my EDD, I won't even have worked here a full year. I know I shouldn't feel guilty, but on the other hand I also know that people will have their judgments about someone new getting pregnant right away. Oh well!
I'm a first-time mom in Lawrence, KS. My EDD is Nov. 7, 2014. Not exactly ready but beyond ecstatic to be expecting!

Re: CANNOT concentrate at work!!

  • I can't concentrate at work either...I understand

  • I can't stay focused on my "need to do" crochet work. I just want to make baby stuff. Craft fairs and gifts cannot just be baby stuff.

  • I have the "baby brain", too. @darcella19- the same thing happened with my job when I was pregnant with my DD. I was only working there a few weeks when I got my BFP, completely surprising and unplanned. My boss, who was TTC forever, was disappointed but i couldn't change the fact that I was pregnant.
People are going to think a whole mess of things but there's nothing you can do to change that. It might not be the most ideal time with your new job and all but, hey, you're pregnant! Yay!

  • Yeah I have been useless all week.  Got my BFP Sunday and haven't been able to think of anything else!  Hopefully my head will get back in the game here soon.....

  • I think it is understandable to have it on our minds. The signs and symptoms of the baby are effecting us, of course it will make you think of it! I think we just need to do the best we can, this baby is going to be in there awhile!

  • I got my BFP on Sunday. I have also struggled maintaining my focus all week. Monday was the worst. But I am actually getting something done today.

I leave next Thursday for vacation and I have to wrap up my project before I leave. I might have to work this weekend to make up for this slacking off...

  • I had this problem last pregnancy. Couldn't concentrate the whole 9 months. No problems so far this time, but I did just start this job in January so I'm with you on that. I feel bad, but oh well!
  • Same problem!!! It's terrible!!!!!! And i had to talk to my boss today and started crying. It's so embarrassing. I just want to tell work so they don't think I'm weird and emotional.
  • Ditto.  I'll be in client meetings and find myself occasionally spacing off and thinking about the baby.  I've also been experiencing pregnancy brain and find myself making really dumb mistakes at work.  I always thought pregnancy brain was a joke...and now I know it's completely true.
