June 2013 Moms

I FOLD!!

I am the lurk-iest of lurkers and I just can't take it anymore! I have read some complaints recently of the board being dry, and perhaps it has slowed down a bit, but I am here to offer a brief recap of your productivity.
When I say I am a lurker, I am a serious lurker...Our June baby is our sixth child and I have NEVER posted on any online forum!
...AND THE AWARD GOES TO JUNE 2013
You have posted so many helpful hints that I had never thought of, posted things I had forgotten, acknowledged struggles that we all face, and made me laugh (pretty hard) so many times that I would like in please!
Here, for your reading pleasure, are some of my highlights:
Again, I have six children and I NEVER KNEW that you can remove a onesie by pulling it down.  An envelope opening you called it.  Good grief is that a game changer. When my older five had a blow-out, poop in their hair was a strong possibility.  Poop from the waist down only is a luxury with which only number six is familiar.  And he thanks you.
Somewhere along the line I had forgotten how important a good bedtime swaddle is.  I had never stopped swaddling, but had not been good about re-swaddling before bed.  Again, major game changer.  And I thank you.
Ideas like liquid band-aids, product recommendations, some recipe ideas...
Also the fact that some of you recently pooled money to buy a carseat for someone is such a neat thing. Pretty fantastic.
I'm a bit of a logistics nightmare though and have no idea how to navigate most features here.  Siggys etc.  Sorry.  Also, maybe the bump says I am pregnant and due in 1,428 days.  it informed me that I was, yet I can't seem to change it.
Someone on the board has a baby with the same name AND same birthday as our son!  I thought that was pretty remarkable.  Our son John was born June 6th. He is very round and mostly happy.  Except for the times when he is not.  He has no teeth.  Not much hair.  Mostly he is super squishy.
He has four sisters and one brother, the oldest.
I think being a Mama is far better than you could have imagined prior, and far more difficult than anyone told you.  It takes more effort than seems humanly possible yet also strengthens you in endless ways.
So there it is!  Have a good Sunday, fellow Mamas.

  • Pitchslap, how do you know I'm not?
Maybe I'm posting from Shady Acres Rehab Center.

  • amberdt03 - Hooray! My Johnny was born at noon. I think the fact that we were having baby boys, named John, hours apart, is pretty awesome. There are so many older Johns, but not many younger. It's my dad's name. I didn't think it was a particularly remarkable name at first, (my dad is a pretty remarkable guy though, why we chose it) but now I think it's adorable.
    Why did you chose John?

We chose John after my husband's grandpa.

  • Love your intro! Welcome. It is great to hear from a mom of 6! We have three and sometimes I want one more! What was it like going from 3 to 4?
  • @CalBears - hi there! I thought 2 to 3 was actually the hardest. After three it seems as though you have developed a rythym of life that makes things a little more predictable. For whatever reason though, at four, people start to think you have a ton of children. Four seems to be the magic "that's a lot of kids" number.
Also, the older your oldest get, the more helpful they can be.
  • @OLJ1010- hooray for birthday buddies! The onesie trick is seriously the best thing ever.
