I need all the coffee...sorries and wine.

Right now we are 3 weeks of house arrest.

Seriously. Being stuck inside for 3 weeks with a very active, energetic 2.5 year old.

DH to make up the time off for hospital visits has been working earlier and later. He is home for bedtime.

So it is me and DD inside all freakin' day long.

Because of her compromised immune system and waiting for the next round of chemotherapy to start we have a "limited visitor" policy in our house too. Which pretty means no one that is a teacher or has kids--and that rules out ALL of our friends.

I need her immune system numbers to go up tomorrow. I need to get out of the house. I don't have it in me to do this another week. If she wanted to lay on the couch and just watch movies/tv it would be SO much easier.

But we seriously did every thing in our house a zillion times.

Please pass all the coffee, wine and sorries this way.

  • Ugh! I can totally understand why you are going stir crazy! That has to be really, really rough.

You are so flipping tough and strong and Reese is incredibly lucky to have you. We spent all day at home yesterday, and I was over it by mid day.

Fingers crossed we numbers go up by tomorrow!

  • Ahh..sorry you're going through this tough time right now...but as other PPs mentioned, how wonderful it is that Reese has the energy to do stuff....I'm praying/hoping that her numbers look good though! I can totally understand how difficult it is being stuck inside the house for long lengths of time.

STAY STRONG, MAMA! You can do this!

That sounds so hard! I have a friend who was house bound for a while and she rented a mini bounce house for her play room. It was a huge hit :) GL!!

  • I'm sorry, that sounds very frustrating. But it is good that she is still her happy playful self.  FX she has awesome numbers tomorrow!

  • I think if we weren't in the Northeast it would be easier. At least then we could play outside. But DD HATES the snow. (it makes her boots dirty and is very, very slippery-her words).

Right now i am in survival mode and letting her pretty much destroy the house. As long as she doesn't break anything or get hurt I am calling the day a success.
She sounds so cute and funny :)  Is she into sensory activities?  I have a friend who posted a picture of her kiddo using a water table inside, with dry oatmeal instead of water.  My OCD self thought about what a mess it would make, but she said it keeps her kid busy for a really long time...
I wish she was. Unfortunately she doesn't like to get herself dirty, clothes dirty or anything really dirty. So most sensory boxes are out--we did use dry beans one day. Finger paints are out. We do bake a lot. Because I am unexpectedly out of work, I seriously am on amazon buying new puzzles/activities every day because it is something new. I need to stop that too though.

  • Starearedkid Do you have any friends that can loan out toys/activities that you guys don't already have at home?  Stuff that can easily be sterilized and dropped off on the porch, might give her something to do at least for a little while?

  • You have all my sorries.

I know you said you were trying to stop buying things on Amazon, but, if you don't already have this, it's not too too expensive and it will help her to burn some energy. My DD loves it:

Also, if she doesn't like to play in sand/ water, maybe you could try some activity with dry macaroni instead?
  • I hope numbers are up for you soon.  I can't imagine having to stay inside all of the time.  You have all of my sympathy.

  • You have all of my sorries and coffee and wine!  I am so sorry this is so rough!  I would give anything a try at this point.  Would she play with snow if you brought it inside in a bowl or something?  I know some girls on my BMB did colored shaving cream in the bathtub too.  Or the painting thing where it is in a ziploc bag?

I hope you find something to keep you sane and I hope her numbers go up and she is able to get started on the next course of treatment!  Hang in there momma!

  • I really hope that her numbers go up and you can get out of the house. I am sorry you are going through so much.

  • I am so sorry you are stuck inside. Get those numbers up little one!

Sometimes when I am stuck inside with DD we will take a favorite book of her's and try and act it out.

She has a Wibbley book where he does a bunch of things and we just copy it.

  • Being stuck inside and isolated like that sounds awful! You are doing awesome, even your "complaining" on here sounds so upbeat.  I would be a self-pitying mess.  No advice, just fingers crossed that her numbers go up and you guys can break out pronto!

Sending good thoughts; difficult situation without the added stress. Wishing you all the best.

  • could you get a ball pit or a small inflatable bounce house and shove it indoors so at least she'll get some energy out?
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
  • So sorry you are struggling right now. T&P her numbers go up and you can both get out of the house.

  • Thank you so much for your kind words. This thread made me cry.

There were definitely some good ideas in there that I didn't think of :) Although I think DH would flip if I came home with a bounce house, I don't think DD would enjoy it either. DCP calls her "particular petunia" and she is. She was nervous about them over the summer and wouldn't go in. And although months went back, she is very anxious when she is not on steady ground (ie. walking on rocks, sand, snow, etc) so I could just see it gathering dust inside. The trampoline on the other hand....

We never set up a fund raiser website--I hate asking for money because our community and everyone has done SO much for us, that I hate to ask for anything else. I just really hope that she can start her chemo this week and then even take her out next week or over the weekend (if she is feeling up to it)
