What is your Maternity Go to Store?

They just closed the motherhood maternity in my mall. It was more expensive, but there were a ton of options. My Old Navy and Gap don't have a maternity section which leaves me with department stores and target for options. I love the Kohl's brand of maternity clothes, but it is actually pretty pricey.

What is your go to maternity brand/store?

    I hate them all!

But I usually look for pieces at Target, Kohl's (agree, they are expensive), and Motherhood.

  • I don't get why Kohl's is so expensive on maternity wear because on other things I would put them in the, "cheaper than average" category.

  • I haven't really found anything I love either. I've been buying from all over the place (Gap/Old Navy/Motherhood/Target) -- anytime I see cute things on sale. I just can't justify an expensive wardrobe that doesn't fit for longer than a few days.

My Kohl's also has a rather crappy selection.  Maybe 3 racks.  It is always hit or miss for anything at Kohl's for me.

  • Motherhood mostly.  I've also gotten things from Target.

  • I've had good luck with Old Navy online and second-hand stores -- most maternity clothes are only very lightly worn.
  • I've gotten a few things from Target, Old Navy and Khols. At Khols I just got a shirt, because like PP's have said it can run expensive and I definitely wasn't paying almost $50 for a pair of pants. There is a Destination Maternity in the mall about an hour from my house, they have really cute clothes, not sure of prices though. I think they run pretty high.

Have you been ordering your pre-pregnancy size from Loft or a size up? I wish they had a selection in stores and that you didn't have to order online.
I'm curious about this too.  I wear a 10 in Loft jeans, but I'm afraid the 10 won't stay big enough long enough.  I also don't want saggy pants!

I really like how kohls fits me, especially pants, but you def have to wait until they go on sale. Also if you're not too skeeved out by wearing used clothes, I have found a TON of nice gently used clothes at resale and consignment shops.

  • Mostly online so far for me...  Asos.com, hm.com, zulily.com and gilt.com boutique sales.  I got two pair of Citizens of Humanity maternity jeans on ebay.com for $30 each (retail over $100) and they fit great!

Decent stores do not exist! I keep reading about how Ivanka Trump/Kate Middleton were super trendy during pregnancy. I don't think it's hard to dress well when you have $ and a stylist.

That said - I ordered some things on gilt ($ but they have a Rosie Pope sale and things were reasonable). Otherwise I got some cute dressed from Motherhood and am sporting my extenders with long non maternity tops. My coat is starting to get snug though so I am praying it warms up soon.

J Crew has their Minnie pants - also $, but I am considering it if a coupon comes in.

For a cheaper option - Asos lokos decent but I havent pulled the trigger yet. I am petite and Kohls/Target etc dont fit me. I am gonna probably get a few things to see if fit works out.

  • A lot of it is online or from thrift stores.

Target: Tops, Bras, Underwear. Hate, hate! the jeans there.
    Motherhood: Jeans, Tops, Dresses
    ASOS: Tops and Dresses

  • I think everything sucks. We have Target, ON, Motherhood and Kohl's.

Motherhood is too pricey and the others have super small selections. I think Kohl's is too pricey as well. I bought a couple things at Old Navy, but the leggings are see-thru, the shirts are really thin/cheap, and the tanks keep sliding down so my bra always shows. Blech.

Everything else I've found while thrifting, including Motherhood brand, which I find to be the best quality, even used.

I guess Burlington Coat Factory has maternity, but I haven't looked there yet.

  • Walmart has surprisingly decent leggings (not see-thru!). And at $8 a pop, I don't feel like it's too much of an investment for temporary gear.
  • I also find that when I pick things to buy that I try to buy pieces that I think I can wear after pregnancy that won't look like it is maternity.  You can't do that with pants, but tops and dresses sometimes pass.

  • I just got a ton of stuff in the mail from motherhood. I got a good pair of pants but every single shirt makes me look like a moose! Maybe I think I am bigger than I am but I just dread taking them back. I hate shopping. I look better in old hoodies with my skinny jeans than any of this maternity crap.

I have mostly been shopping online since there is only one maternity store here...a Motherhood Outlet. Every time I go in there, it's such a cluster, and everything looks cheap.

I have ordered dress pants, jeans and leggings from Motherhood and some dresses from Asos. I keep looking at Target, but they have such a small, small section. I just got one dress there, but they only had a few dresses, jeans and few shirts. Very disappointing. Our Old Navy doesn't carry maternity, so I'm pretty much SOL unless I go online.

I have actually bought a few maxi dresses in regular sizes and a few tunics that will work throughout...hopefully. Other than that, I'm making due with what I have right now although I'm thinking it's not going to last long!

Hopefully the weather will warm up soon since I have several non-maternity dresses that I should be able to wear for a while.

ETA - Just remembered I also ordered two Maternal America dresses from Amazon.com for under $50 each, which is pretty good for that brand! If you hadn't noticed, I'm a bit of a shopaholic.

I have a couple maternity short sleeve shirts (kind of like stretchy blouse material) that I've worn post-pregnancy.  I even forgot one was a maternity shirt when I was figuring how many summer maternity shirts I would need.

  • I went to Sears department store the other day and they had a pretty decent selection of maternity clothes, especially on the maternity rack. I got 5 shirts, pants, and a dress for $100.

  • I got a bunch of stuff from Kohls last time.  If you order online and shop with their coupons, they're really affordable.  I can't think of the last time I went there without a 20% off coupon code.  Also, look for when they have Kohls cash.  That's like getting an additional 20% back to spend later.
I guess you just have to 'work their system' but I shop there all the time and get great deals.

Target was best for dresses.  Motherhood had the best work pants, but they were always expensive.  I think I got 4 pair at regular price.  I knew I'd be using them 5 days a week until the weather changed.  Also, I knew there would be more than one kid, so I went ahead and spent the money.  It's nice not to have to buy that stuff all over again this time.

  • Motherhood is my only option unless I want to drive a distance. Target occasional has things, but I feel they are cut funny. Like one shirt will fit the belly but be tight on the boobs, another of the same style different color will fit the boobs but not the belly. And their pants are terrible.

Kohls is likewise as terrible. And in top of fit issues, they usually only have one or two items in my size. In pretty fluffy not pregnant, but I wear an XL, so it shouldn't be so hard to find clothes!

  • I drove around for hours a few weeks ago looking for maternity clothes. It was really frustrating! I ended up buying $160 worth of clothes online from motherhood. I got two pairs of jeans and six shirts. Way more than I usually spend on clothes, but it was worth my time and (lack of) frustration.

  • We have a new store where you can sell back name brand clothes/accessories called Clothing Mentor.  Not sure if anyone else knows of this, but they also carry maternity clothes.  They only take items that are in great condition.  I purchased a dress, work skirt and 3 tops for $50.00.  And they said they restock items once a week.  I won't shop anywhere else, I lucked out!

Burlington usually has some great dresses and shirts !
  • I forgot to add Pink Blush to my list before, but I see some other people mentioned it. I've gotten some cute stuff from there, and my new favorite maternity item came in the mail today from them! This tunic fits great and looks so cute!

  • Gap mostly. I've found some nice shirts at old navy. I find Targets shirts fall apart too quickly and the side touching is too tight.

I'm surprised by all the people who have said they can't find anything decent. I haven't bought any tops yet but I got the CUTEST pants/jeans from Pea in the Pod. They have great designers and their jeans look just like regular jeans. I was thrilled!

Oh and I'm a huge fan of the Gap leggings.
