Baby Food Maker Suggestions

Hi Ladies,

I am looking for some recommendations for baby food makers.  I am looking for something that cooks/steams and blends in one.

If there are any I should stay away from - please let me know as well! :)

Thank you!

Re: Baby Food Maker Suggestions

  • I wouldn't waste money on a system I just steam the food and use an immersion blender. I bought the food storage trays from buybuybaby and I freeze it in portions.

  • I have a cheap steamer basket and this food processor that I've had for about 6 years that has been working really well for us to make LO's purees.  I've used the food processor for a lot of other things as well.
  • Definitely don't waste money on a system because in couple of months you'll be paste purees and never again will you need something that steams AND processes.  Get a steamer basket and either a stick blender or a food processor because you can use all of those for other things later.

  • Thanks ladies!  Luckily I do have a food processor and immersion blender already.  I was curious if it was worth purchasing a baby food maker that does everything all in one and so that I just have one thing to clean. :)
  • Not worth it, they eat purees for such a short amount of time

  • we have a vitamix and I *love* it. it doesn't cook the foods, but not all foods need to be cooked (avocado, pear, etc.). so I just cook the ones that require it before I make the purees.

  • Hi ladies! Popping over from bf'ing board- I usually just stalk other boards! ;) I have a Beeba and love it! I used it for DD1, now starting with DD2 and in between I used for making myself butternut squash soup in a jiffy!!
  • We were gifted a baby bullet and I love it. It's small so it's easy to store when not in use and I love all the extras it came with! However- I did go out and buy a beaba multiportion freeze tray because I couldn't find another baby bullet freeze tray and I love the Beaba freeze tray- super easy to pop the frozen food out- well worth the $20 IMO. I also got the sage spoonfuls storage containers and I love them as well. They hold the Beaba frozen foods perfectly.

I know some people say it's a waste of money to buy a maker, but we really like our NUK Freshfoods Maker.

ETA: Even when he is past purees, we plan to use it to make fresh applesauce; it also comes with a smoothie blade, so we might use it for that too.
  • I got a beaba and the freezer trays as a shower gift, and I have to say I love it - just started using it this past week.  I know that steaming and blending are things I already had appliances for, but to have it all happen in one easy product has been fantastic, such easy operation and clean-up.

I know he'll move past purees in a few months, but that is a few months of easy, inexpensive, homemade baby food, so thus far I am definitely a fan!
