Into and reasons for OAD (long)

I've been lurking here for awhile and thought it was time to finally do an intro. I post mainly on the BF board and every once in awhile on my BMB (Jan '13). I will be 37 this week (not born in 1980, but hopefully I can still hang out here!). DD is 13.5 months old, and we are pretty much 100% sure we are OAD.
One reason is my age and the fact that there is NO way I would even consider another LO for at least 5 years. I'm not really a fan of the newborn/infant stage and find myself enjoying DD so much more as she gets older.
We also had trouble TTC. It took a long time and created a lot of stress for me (I was a bit obsessed!). We also had a MC, which was devastating for us. Neither DH or me feel up to going through the stress of TTC. I forgot to mention that we were starting IF testing when I (ironically) found out I was pregnant. My OB had looked at my charts and didn't think I was ovulating, although I obviously did for at least one month, so who knows if we would have to go through IF treatments to get PG again.
Probably the biggest reason we are OAD is that I developed a life threatening complication at 36 weeks...HELLP syndrome. I have a 30 to 40% chance of developing it in future pregnancies, and the only cure is to deliver the baby. Thankfully, DD was ok, but it scares me to think about what might happen if I got HELLP earlier in a pregnancy.
That being said, our little family of 3 feels complete and I have a sense of peace about things. Plus, I can't imagine having enough time, energy, and money for more than one child!
