I failed too, I just did the 3 hour test today and passed which u have to fast for that one. My dr told me I could eat before the 1 hour test but don't eat a lot of sugary foods. Try not to stress over it I know it's hard bc I did a little. Good luck on ur 3 hour.
I was told by my nurse that I could eat just eat a breakfast high in protein like some eggs or oatmeal. Not a lot of carbs or anything sugary. Sorry you didn't pass.
I fasted (although I was told I didn't need to) and miserably failed my 1 hour. I went back for the 3 hour a week later, fasted again, and passed.
If you read previous threads, TONS of women fail the 1 hour but pass the 3 hour. Good luck! Don't stress yourself about it. GD isn't the end of the world and you would still be capable of delivering a perfectly healthy baby.
I failed my 1-hr, it was by a lot too I think, and passed my 3-hr no problem. I think quite a few girls here have failed the 1-hr and have passed the 3-hr one. I had to fast before both of them.
Don't sweat it. The hardest part of the 3 hour is the taking blood at least 4 times and being patient. I got so bitter and mean because I was hungry at the end of it, the lab techs were laughing at me. Bring a good book and patience. Oh and hit up the Chinese buffet on the way home. Haha.
fasting/not-fasting for the 1 hour really doesn't make much of a difference (according to my OB who specifically tells you to eat normally just not too much sugar). You didn't fail because you ate breakfast. Just like someone isn't going to pass if they didn't eat.
@PrincessJess19 I had to fast for the one hour and I still didn't pass. I just did the 3hour yesterday and was supposed to get my results by now and there is an issue with the lab. Now I'm worried!
I failed my one hour by 6 freaking points!! Have to get on scheduling the three hour. Not looking forward to it! Good luck ladies :-q
Hopefully you should be fine! I failed my 1 hour by 9 and then passed the 3 hour.
I failed my one hour by 8 points, then failed my 3 hour (failed two draws by 5 points each). Not trying to be discouraging or anything, but anyone can get GD. The majority of women who pass the one hour will in fact pass the three hour, but your one hour result has no bearing on what your three hour results will be.
I'm hoping it's the crappy food I grabbed as I was running out the door to get it done. I'm going in early tomorrow for my 3 hour. Of course the fasting has begun and I'm only "starving" because I can't eat. Hopefully I'll pass like so many others...:)
I just found out today that I failed my 1 hour also...by 36 points. I had GD with my now 12 year old, but I was. REALLY hoping to escape it this time. I have the 3 hour on the 12th.
What is with the huge discrepancies on how to prepare for these tests? My doctor just called with some very specific instructions: 10-11 hours prior to my 3 hour I am to eat half a sandwich and drink one glass of milk. WTF?
Went in for it this morning. The second hour was pretty bad, but I survived. Won't know until probably Monday. The lab tech said it's been in the last year that they've heard you don't "need" to fast, and that they see a lot more false positives after the 1-hour now. Maybe it's a conspiracy...;)
Bc of diabetic family history and being 30, I did the one hour at 8 weeks and failed horribly. Took a 3 hour at 11 weeks and passed with flying colors. My doctor requested another 3 hour at 28 weeks (last Friday). I failed it by less than 5 points on 2 of the hours. Definitely not the end of the world! I'm testing blood sugar 4 times a day and eating a reasonable diet...now mine is too low! I'm blaming crazy hormones!!!!
