"I'm pregnant..." stories

My second glass of wine is making me a little sentimental.  I MAY have been watching birth videos on YouTube and shedding a few tears (I was sobbing into my wine).  The moment I told my husband I was pregnant was one of the best, scariest, most emotional moments of my life.  Anyone care to share their story?

MINE:

My boobs had started hurting 3 weeks before and I had started getting dizzy at random moments.   It got so bad that I stopped going to the gym when I had been going 3 times a week because any amount of bouncing was excruciating.  Two weeks before my middle sister (who had been trying to get pregnant at the same time as me) had called me to tell me that she was pregnant.  I was so happy for her, but at the same time so disappointed that my body wasn't doing what I wanted it to.

Fast forward another week and finally taking a test even though I thought it would be a waste (my periods have always been irregular so 4 weeks in-between periods wasn't unusual).  Two more tests and I was sitting on the sink in disbelief.  I texted my sister because I had to tell SOMEONE and she told me to tell my husband to come home but I didn't because I knew he would be concerned.  I ended up telling him to meet me at my parents house where my sister was so we could have dinner.  We had been having a really silly fight and I bought a card about "growing" and told him I was sorry and gave it to him the second he got out of the car.  He read it, started crying, and picked me up to kiss me.   BEST.

OH, I got my ultrasound a week after and I was already 9 weeks pregnant...my sister's daughter is 2 weeks older than my LO!

Okay, yours!

  • Clomid + Ovidrel (trigger) + POAS at 10 days past trigger = BFP. I waited to see if the line would get darker or if it was just the trigger and it would fade. It kept getting darker as the days passed so at 12 days past I called the doc and then I called my husband! He was working and he was in just so much shock he couldn't stop laughing.

Funny you posted this thread bc I was just looking at a picture of my first positive on a Dollar Store test and I have a picture of the follicle that released my baby girl!

  • I decided to POAS just for funsies three days before I expected my period. We were not TTC. I've always been a little paranoid about being pregnant and not realizing it, so this wasn't that unusual for me to do. I about passed out when I saw the BFP. This was about 30 minutes before I had to go to work, and DH wasn't home so the rest of the day I was going crazy all day. When I went to tell him I couldn't say it out loud, but he somehow knew by my silence/hesitation and just said "Really??" and I nodded and started crying and he was super excited and gave me a big hug.

The first time, I don't even know if I said "I'm pregnant."  I had gotten a call saying, "It's positive, but a low positive" in such an unhopeful tone, I think that's all I said.

W/Penelope, I got the call and listened to whether her voice sounded hopeful or not as she went through the, "Hi, may I speak w/___?"  At first I wasn't sure, then I thought it sounded hopeful.  She told me I was pregnant, and that not only was it positive, but it was a strong positive. :)  D.h. was at work (he teaches h.s.), so I texted him that I was gonna call, but to let it go to v.m. and to listen to it as soon as he could.  Then I called and left a really long message like, "Well, I got the call", and told the whole story.  He said he was teaching when I texted and called and he was dying to just run out the room and listen.  As soon as the bell rung ending that class he went into an empty room and listened.  He texted me super happy messages whenever he could the rest of the day.  He taught super happy, but was messing up all over the place, so his students would be like, "Wait, don't you mean ___?", and he was like, "O, yea, whatever" his mind was so preoccupied.  Good thing he taught his students so well they knew when to correct him!  He said he couldn't wait to come home, and when he did he picked me up and spun me around and we just basked in our happiness. :)  That night we finally bought What to Expect When You're Expecting (we had had What to Expect Before You're Expecting for almost two yrs. at this point), and d.h. bought a book that had medical pictures of the baby developing.  We continued our celebration at The Rainforest Cafe where we told some of our friends that knew what we had been going through.
  • Corri- We were in Toronto for a wedding and were sitting in a martini bar when DH was like, "why are we waiting until the fall (it was June), we should just start trying now." I told him I wanted to wait till fall so I wasn't pregnant at the two weddings we had coming up in October and November (I was a BM in both), and he was like, "Oh, please, it can take a while to get pregnant, it won't happen right away". Famous last words...

The Friday of labor day weekend (literally 2 months later, after only trying for 6 weeks), I started to feel really odd, I was bloated, my boobs hurt, and I got so nauseous out of nowhere, so I started to wonder. I didn't drink that weekend, but also didn't want to test until I was late. Finally that Thursday after, I woke up at 7, peed and it immediately came back positive. I was like, "Ummm, babe?" and DH (half asleep) was like, "whuuuuuuuut?" I jumped on the bed and was like, "We're pregnant!" and his eyes popped open and he was like, "Are you effing kidding me?". He then proceeded to exclaim, "My fishies can swim!", lol!

Gavin- we had been TTC for 8 months with no success, and it took my doc's office until cycle 5 (7 months in) to finally agree to test me, and only after I called them and told them I was on day 55 of my cycle and did they finally agree something was wrong (I had thought something was wrong for months and they kept brushing me off). After finally testing and diagnosing textbook PCOS, they started me on Clomid. Cycle 6 of TTC was my first Clomid cycle and we boned as usual, but then Superstorm Sandy hit us two weeks later and while I was still temping and charting, all thoughts about POAS went off the radar, since we were living in hotels for 12 days while we had no power. Finally, on day 11 of no power and hotel living, my chart stalking friends convinced me to POAS and I did, expecting another month of BFN's, but it popped up positive immediately. I did the exact same thing to DH again (waking him up out of a dead sleep at 7AM), and he had a similar reaction, lol!
