First drink?

We were talking about this last night with a group of friends, and I thought it was so interesting. Where were you and how old were you when you had your first alcoholic drink?

I was 10, in Mexico, with a stomach bug, and the doctor from the resort gave me a shot of tequila.

14. My parents would buy us a couple six packs of wine coolers for the weekend down at our ranch when we would go.

I don't remember....I was probably a teenager and it was some family event....maybe champagne at my aunt's wedding at age 16? My parents always let us have a small glass of wine or a beer w/ the family when we were teens.

Actually, no, I tell lies.....it was practicing for First Communion at age 7; my parents gave me a small sip of wine so I would know what it tasted like and not be shocked when I got to that moment at church. I thought it tasted nasty, heheh.

7th grade, my cousin's college graduation. She convinced my mom to let my sister and me have a sleepover at her on campus townhouse by telling her it was substance-free housing. Yeah, not so much lol! I drank 4 solo cups of wine thinking that since my mom drank wine it must be mild. I fell down the stairs before throwing up all over her place. Didn't touch any more alcohol for many years after that. And the beauty of being young means I felt fine the next morning.

At my best friend's birthday party in 7th grade. Her older cousin- who was also my friend and in 8th grade- brought vodka. We did shots after her parents went to bed at 10, then snuck out of the house, walked 1/2 mile in the country to meet up with sophomore boys. It was quite the night. I am still amazed that we didn't get caught. We got back at like 4 am- and were asleep when her dad got up at 5am.

18 at my college boyfriend's dorm. Vodka and orange/pineapple juice. I could barely get out of his bean bag chair. :-) He had to carry me downstairs to my dorm room at my insistence. Later, I stumbled to the bathroom and was swinging from the stall doors before I threw up. The next morning he came to get me for breakfast and I told him to fuck off. I wanted to die. But later in the day, I learned the value of burgers, greasy fries and milkshakes to make a hangover better.

I think I was 21. I just had sip of a friend's Irish coffee. My own drink was probably around the same age and was a sample of wine at Olive Garden. I took a big gulp and it burned like crazy going down. DH thought it was hilarious as I didn't know a person is supposed to just sip wine. I though it was disgusting, and still do,

I had communion wine in the states once and another time in Italy before I was 21. I don't count those though

After I turned 21 I had a seagrams fizzy drink that tasted like Jones soda. I drank like 1/3 of the bottle and fell asleep for like 4 hours haha It's funny you ask this because DH and I were just talking about this the other day and he bought me more of those drinks. I literally hadn't had once since then. (I can drink a whole bottle now without falling asleep :P)

Wait, are we talking our first actual drink? Like whole drink? Or the first time we tasted it? My dad used to give me a sip of his beer all the time when I was little, and I was always allowed to sample a sip of the fruity drinks my mom got in Mexico.

I grew up around beer, so I'd have a sip of my Dad's, Uncle's, Grandpa's as a kid. It was NBD at the time. I didn't drink my own full beer until the summer I turned 25 though.

My first drinking experience was a softball sleepover campout. We had shots of Jack Daniels. :-&

I tasted some things in college, but never really drank until one night and some screwdrivers.

When I was a kid, I think 8-10, I asked my dad what his beer tasted like. He let me have a taste. It was nasty. A whole drink of my own though? I think I was 18. I went to Mexico with a bunch of friends for my birthday, got trashed, came home and threw up on my porch.

There were times when we would steal a little from the parents liquor cabinet here and there just to see what it all tasted like, but the first time I got drunk I was 14. My parents were OOT and I had my boyfriend (who was a few years older) and a few friends over - first time getting drunk AND smoking pot. Phew.

I don't really remember a specific first time.. It was probably from my brother though.. He always tried to get me to drink in HS.. Lol. I never got drunk until my second year of college when I moved away.. I was 19 and it was game on for sure. I loved Long Island iced teas and kamikaze shots... I didn't like beer until my late 20s and love wine now.

I was in college. 18 I think. My high school boyfriend was a recovering alcoholic so I stayed away from it until we broke up. It was probably a wine cooler or Jell-O shot but I dont remember.

I was 16 out on a friend's boat with my parents. My mom gave me a Mike's Hard Lemonade (she was fine with me drinking if I wanted it, so long it was around her. She didn't believe in making it "off limits" to hopefully encourage trust and responsibility.) I drank maybe 1/3 of it and gave it back. I had my first full drink when I was 18 in Hawaii at my aunt and uncles house, it was a Mei Tai. I've never been drunk.
