Salt Therapy?

In one of my mom's groups on fb, a mom posted that she took her son who was having frequent colds to a place that specializes in salt therapy. Apparently, it helps to treat breathing problems, colds, flu, allergies, sinuses, etc. You get the treatments by sitting in a room and the air is infused with sodium chloride. For kids, they even have a play area set up. The mom who posted said it worked wonders for her son. It sounds interesting but I had never heard about it before. I guess it kind of makes sense because people have always flocked to seaside towns to improve their health. I was just shocked that there is a dedicated facility that provides "salt air". Anyone else ever heard of this?

    I never heard of this...but I do think salt has healing properties so it could be worth a shot. I am a big believer in dead sea salt baths for everything from depression to broken bones.

    Thanks ladies! I don't feel like I am so out of the loop now. Everyone was talking about salt therapy like it is THE thing. It kind of reminds me of an oxygen bar.

    I would be concerned about the particulate size off the salt in the air at one of these establishments and how that could affect LO's lungs.

    Sound like the beach idea that she said docs use to tell her when she was sick back in the day. They would just tell the moms to take the kids to the beach and they would be fine (simple cold mind you).

    @watuzzigal I don't think so, mainly because we don't really need to at this time. However, my mom has really bad allergies and sinus issues, so she said she might try it. If she does, I will let you know if it works!
