Am I crazy?

So, yesterday, I was reading a post and a fellow S14er said she bought a pocket Doppler. Excited that I can actually have the opportunity to have one of my own and listen to the heart beat at my convenience, I bought one too. However, DH said I was crazy to do so and I wasted money. Was I wrong to buy one? This is my first baby and DH says I complain too much (about feeling tired or sick, or any pain that I have) - I guess I should also mention, I don't really have a social life, apart from DH and his family, meaning I really don't have anyone to talk to about my pregnancy. I'm basically alone in this. (Not to sound depressing)

Why is buying a Doppler crazy? As long as it isn't all day every day, it's fine in moderation.

I don't think it's crazy to own a doppler. A home doppler can drive you crazy the times you can't find LO's heartbeat, but many people here have owned them and have had fun with them and been given peace of mind. Just be aware....especially early on....that you may not find the hb every try.

Totally not dumb! Mine came in yesterday and me and DH listened to baby's heartbeat. We were thrilled to hear LO and DH said- and I quote- "I could listen to this sound all day". Once you have it, I'm sure he'll appreciate it and the peace of mind it gives you!

Not crazy at all. DH said the same thing when I told him I wanted to get one. I heard baby girl's hb for the first time last week at the OB and it was really cool. He wasn't there to hear it, so I think he would change his mind about the doppler if I got one.

And complaining too much??? You're growing a human. He has no right to say that unless he grows a uterus and gets pregnant ;-)

Is there a local pregnancy center in your area?? They are great for some extra support. They offer lots of classes on learning about your baby, and parenting. I would check them out for some more support! This place is also a great place for pregnancy support!

Not crazy! My hubby thought it would cause anxiety to get one but when I finally got it and we heard the heartbeat, it was awesome. Now when I find it, like last night, he will say "turn it up, let me hear." It's so cute.

No it is not crazy. I bought a Doppler for my first pregnancy as well as this one. It definitely helped to keep me sane until I could feel LO moving around. I am not using it as much this time but I probably used mine every other day or so with my first pregnancy until he was moving around a lot.

I love my Doppler! My family lives 2500 miles away, so I live being able to text my mom and sisters videos of the heartbeat to keep them included.

If you're crazy then so are a lot of other women on this board. All we do is talk about pregnancy here so if you need an outlet you found it.

I also just bought one! Even if I only use it a few times (my husband is worried that their isn't enough testing around what the high frequency sound waves could do to the fetus...) I think totally worth it during the 'dark months' where many symptoms go away but you can't feel baby yet! Also you should look for a prenatal group in your area or maybe even a prenatal exercise class. Woman love to bond over talking about their unborn! No sense you being all alone!
