Cataract. UPDATE

I noticed what I thought might be a scratch on LO's eye so I took her to the doc. Pedi looked at her for quite awhile and finally said it appears to be a very small cataract. He couldn't believe I saw anything. I guess my pp anxiety was good for something!

Does anyone have any experience with this? We have an appointment with a pedi ophthalmologist on Tuesday but in the mean time I need to step away from Dr. Google, it is not my friend!

Update: LO has a Mittendorf dot. It is the remnant of the hyaloid artery that brought blood to the lens while in utero. Looks like a pinprick. Hers shouldn't affect her vision and doesn't need surgery but is still considered a cataract bc it occurs on the lens. We will follow up in 2 months to make sure it isn't progressing.

Thanks ladies! Apparently congenital cataracts are rare, my pedi has only seen 3 in his entire career.

I'm trying not to worry too much but it's tough. Maybe I will convince H to treat me to a spa day for some distraction!
