Hi all.
My son is just over 2 weeks and bf is going ok. My nipples are still extremely sore during latch and are sometimes sore between. He has started squirming and pulling during some sessions. Both of which stress me out that something isn't quite right, But my question is about how long he eats. I've read 15-20 minutes is the golden time however it varies so much. Anywhere from 5-30 minutes. It stresses me out if he doesn't get at least 10 minutes. Should I just relax and let him do his thing or do you think I should worry when he eats less?! It's hard not to over analyze every detail! I've gotten some great advice reading this board and look forward to hearing your thoughts!! Thanks.
Re: Length of feedings
This time around, I'm letting DD lead. I will say she's much more efficient than DS ever was. Most feedings are 5-10 minutes on one side. Sometimes, she'll want to eat every 1.5 hours, sometimes she'll go nearly 4.
If your DC is having a good number of wet/poopy diapers and is gaining weight, then try not to stress about it.
