After seeing all these posts about Disney, you all are freaking me out.  I have been looking forward to taking my kids to Disney since before they were born.  I am all about planning, you are talking to a girl who carried around file folders with highlighted maps and activities for her trip to Europe, but Disney is starting to sound like a nightmare.  Maybe my kid is just volatile, but I can picture myself with a grumpy child at a character meal with a forced smile on my face saying, "You WILL enjoy this meal if it is the last thing you do. Eat your pancakes."
Anyway, why is the character meal so necessary?  It seems very expensive.  Aren't the characters just walking around the park all the time?  Can't you run into them while experiencing the parks?  I keep reading about avoiding lines by going to a meal, but I thought the characters just kind of roamed around.  What is the alternative way to meet the characters if you don't go to a breakfast? I think I have a lot to learn...
