an hour away from hospital

Hey everyone I have a quick question.  My husbands parents live over an hour away and we go visit them on sundays.  When I get closer to my due date, should I tell him we shouldn't go there because what if something happens and im like an hour and a half from my hospital??  Thanx

  • My work is over an hour away from my hospital and I drive here everyday... I'm 39 weeks.

  • I'm in a similar situation as my parents live over an hour away.  I'm 35 weeks and don't go right now just because the drive is extremely uncomfortable for me.  I think that's a personal call for you based on what will keep you the most comfortable.  I'm sure your parents will understand either way :)

This exactly. And to think no matter what happens my son's daycare is back next to my home so either way I have to make the commute. You will do just fine. If you don't want to go don't.

  • Well my hospital is an hour away with good weather and traffic so I don't see that as a big deal. Go ahead and continue your visits.
  • yeah our hospital is am hour commute as well, but I wasn't too worried even with this being our first. from everything I have heard and read there will be signs to look for, and usually after you get there things don't always happen right away so you can probably make it :)

at least I hope this is me remaining calm... I have a lot of anxiety so I am trying not to let this freak me out, but most friends say I will be fine and have time. If anything I will freak out for a false labor, and be a week early to arrive and get sent home LOL

  • It may be an hour away from your hospital for you, but if you have an emergency you can always call an ambulance.

  • You will be fine. My house is 45 minutes from the hospital and my work is an hour and 45 minutes from the hospital. I drove from work to the hospital and delivered my daughter later that day. Just don't go on a Sunday if you are starting to feel contractions or not feeling well closer to your due date.
  • Awesome..thanx for the nice replies :)
  • I wouldn't be worried about it, honestly.
  • I wouldn't worry about it, but if you start being really uncomfortable sitting in the car that long you should feel free to skip it.

  • I'd probably quit visiting after 39 weeks, partly just to rest more at home.
