Convertible Car Seats? Recommendations?

DH and I just started talking about convertible car seats, as ours is only rated to 30lbs, and DS is 18lbs now. I kind of hope he'll slow down and we can continue to use our current car seat until it gets warmer (#wishfulthinking #notuntiljuly), but I wanted to start doing some research now. Anyone currently using a convertible seat? Any recommendations?

Andplusalso, what is everyone doing for sun shades? DH picks up DS from the sitter occasionally, and he has a little 2 door commuter car that has tiny back side windows and one large back window - DS is constantly fighting the sun in his face, and we can't use those little pull down, suction-cup sun shades because the windows are too small / awkward. Has anyone tinted their windows because of this?

    Carter's had some glasses on sale the other day and we picked up a pair. LO loves them!

    As for the convertible seat we haven't decided. We have a Graco stroller/car seat combo now but I have been looking into Chicco as well.

    we have the diono radian for DD and love it, plan to get another one for DS.

    We have been using a britax boulevard for DD for the last 2 years and love it. I bought the next fit for DS and plan on installing it when it's warmer.

    DS1 is in a Britax Marathon Classic.  I really like it.  DS1 has been in it since he was 7 months.

    Not sure what I will get for DS2.  I may look into the Diono Radian.  If not I will probably get another Britax.

    We have the Britax Marathon and I love it, so easy to install and LO likes it :)

    I was searching for a second car seat for DH/occasionally my parents car and was gonna go with a cheaper seat but after watching some of the installation videos of those seats online I decided to just go with another Britax Marathon...NJ drivers are insane though and I was hit by a drunk driver a couple years ago, so I'm a car safety freak now and would rather save money on something else

    No problem! There are a lot of good recommendations in that thread plus some good feedback on certain seats. I'd try the facebook page Carseats for the Littles or their website too! There is a lot of good info on their website!

    I actually got my windows tinted prior to having LO because I had to take it off when I switched states in order to change my registration. So I got it put back on. I have very dark tint. Itvhelps s littke bit but it doesn't keep the sun out of his face. So i wouldn't spend the money for tint just for LO. If you wanted tinted windows anyways do it but you'll probably still need some kind of shade, at least I did! Hope that helps!
