Ok so FTM alert and yes probably overreacting. I understand some spit up is normal however....
How much spit up is too much? How can you tell if it's normal or something else is up? When do you talk to a doc re: reflux? Could it be something in my diet? Could it be as simple as bad latch and LO getting air?
LO is exclusively BF. He struggled with latch bc of a tongue tie for the first 3 weeks and has had it snipped for 5 days now. He's doing better on the boob with latch but with his new found abilities now guzzles milk and sometimes gasps for air resulting in swallowing it. He also is doing ALOT more spitting up. I stop frequently to burp him (is 1 burp enough?) but still find he spits up numerous times after each feed followed by hiccups. Last night it was projectile spit up and looked like at least an ounce or more or milk. He didn't eat well the rest of the night and after our morning feed spit up 3 more times (little bits this time) but probably equalled close to an ounce. I'm worried he won't get enough milk if he keeps spitting up. Advice or experience ?

Re: Let's talk spit up (BF babies)
If your baby is gaining weight, having plenty of wet/poop diapers, and generally pretty content, you don't have a reflux problem. It's a laundry problem
PS - It looks like a lot more than it really is when they spit up!
If it seems to be bothering LO though it could be reflux. Meds won't stop the spitting but they'd stop the pain. I had DS1 on meds and it looks like this little guy is heading down the same path. They cough/sneeze frequently, arch back when spitting up, make grimace like faces frequently and look like they're trying to swallow something back down.
Def mention it to your pedi.
I just hate to see so many babies put on reflux medication for no reason. Sometimes it's very necessary, of course, but many times it isn't.
Does your baby seem to hate eating? This is a major sign of reflux. They are very obviously hungry but refuse to eat because it hurts them.
