Ear infection remedies

So I'm on day 5 of an ear infection and am about to go postal. Lol. I've tried heat, olive oil, garlic, essential oils, etc to no avail. Anything besides antibiotics that I can do to help? Owowowow.

  • DH's ENT gave him an rx for a steroid nasal spray--Flonase or something like it. It can help with the inflammation.

My DD is on Flonase for ears, too.   Unfortunately, it's not instant though.. it's a steroid.  And will take 12-36 hours to start taking effect.   KC, not much you can do if you've tried all that!  Usually drugs will help mine- ibuprofren, to take down the swelling in the ear.  If you're on day 5, you might need antibiotics because I assume if it's going away on it's own it would have by now? Mine are usually 3 days. I know if I'm past that, I need extra help.  UGH ear infections suck.

  • When my kids had ear infections, I took them to the chiropractor. All he did was tug on their ears, and it was instant relief.

    That's an expensive tug.

I would agree with going to the doctors but the severity of the pain/pressure is less than it was on say day two. I feel like it's improving but I'm still super uncomfortable. Wah.

Yeah, if it's improving I'm with you. It's probably getting better. I'd go for ibu or the drops at the store then... if nothing the natural way is working and you're that uncomfortable :)

Oh gosh yes, always. My mom used to give me drops for ear aches when I was little!   They're OTC in the little ear section.. there are several brands.
