Short story:
Contractions started being timeable around 4pm on Tuesday.
Med Free labor. Ouch.
Had baby at 5:49pm Wednesday, Feb. 26th (original due date Feb 19).
Team Green turned Team Pink
8 pounds even, 20.5 inches, the most beautiful baby I have ever seen.
Long story:
Monday night- False labor.
Tuesday- 4th acupuncture appt. while contracting- became regularly spaced and more intense.
Went into hospital at 11pm. 4cm, 90% effaced.
Labored, med free- wanted to put off pain meds as long as possible.
Wednesday- 8am at 6cm- Jacuzzi time.
3 hours in jacuzzi, turned into a raisin, progressed to 9.5cm.
11am - had to start pushing to get the last .5cm out of the way.
PS: back labor the whole time. woo!
Pushed for HOURS. My husband could probably be a doula.
Finally after the much dreaded ring-of-fire, baby came out of my body at 5:49 pm.
Husband announced that we had a little girl and that she looked like me.
But alas- it was not over. My placenta would not detach.. and the doc had reached the 30 minute time limit she had to get it out.
Getting that out was almost as bad, just because I was emotionally/physically/mentally done, and there was another 45 minutes of pressing (really hard!!) on my uterus and eventually a manual removal of my placenta. She actually finally got it out right as the OR people were walking into my room to take me to have a D&C.
Recovery went/is going well. We are home and adjusting to life with our daughter.
