Again! Severe pain rolling over in bed.

I know I posted about this before but sometimes I get pains in my stomach when I roll over too quickly in bed (i.e. Sleeping on one side and switching to the other or my back, etc) but it has gone away as I now turn over slowly, except for last night... I was sleeping on my right side & turned to my back and had the most intense, severe pains, in my stomach and in my lower back I've ever felt in my life. It was incredibly painful and I just froze in place praying for them to stop, the pain felt like firecrackers going off all over the inside of my stomach. I almost woke my DH up to take me to the ER b/c it was so bad but I waited it out and after about 5 minutes the pain slowed down so I got up, went pee, laid back down, and was fine. Has anyone else had this "firework" type pain before? I don't know if it was my insides + babies were all rearranging themselves, if it was intense RLP, or if something may have been/still be wrong. Just wanted to get a second opinion before I call my OB crazy pregnant lady style. Thanks ladies!

  • This happens to me too. RLP is no fun. When I stand up, roll over in bed, move with any sort of quickness and when I sneeze I get the shooting pains and I just want to curl into a ball. I have noticed it is not as bad when I'm up and moving around but since I am seated most of the day for my work it's bad. I try and move around several times throughout the day so that I'm not in one position too long.

  • It does sounds like intense RLP, I  have not experienced that myself though. I also suggest calling your doc for peace of mind!

  • I have intense cramping cutting through me when I go from sitting to standing, IDK if that is the same, I can't move when it happens. I also have other really sharp pains just sitting around. I attribute everything to growing. Basically I was told if it's not constant, severe cramps, and there is no bleeding, don't worry. Having been through labor, it doesn't just clear up in a couple of minutes and return intermittently only when one moves. But if you're really concerned call your OB, they'll have actual useful medical advice.

  • I'm sorry you are having so much pain! I read somewhere to try to keep your knees together while rolling over to prevent pain. I tried it last night and it seemed to work, but it might have just been because I didn't roll over so quickly.

  • I get them all the time in bed :) ob told me rlp!
  • When you roll over, do it slowly. I have to remember when I move quickly, it pulls and then I get the RLP pains pretty badly.

  • If I roll over too fast, or in too straight of a position, I get the same sharp, intense RLP.  I've learned to be VERY gentle with myself and to roll slowly.  Glad you got checked out to feel a bit better!

It doesn't matter what I do or how slow I do it everything hurts. I'm so glad DH and I are getting spayed and neutered so I never have to deal with it again because it's gotten worse every time. They should warn you about RLP.
  • Glad everything is ok!

  • I get pains when I move in bed and have to pee. Doc says that with my bladder so full my uterus is pushed on and cramps. A lovely feeling.
  • I have really really bad RLP too. I called the ob last week to make sure it was okay. I'm having bad pains tonight after working out today and moving stuff. Plus the office said it's also likely pelvic girdle pain when I mentioned my entire crotch area feeling heavy and like the baby will just fall out.

They assured me it was normal and to up my water intake to 15 glasses a day and take it easy. Easier said than done. I have an appt Friday and I have so many questions.

  • I would have guessed RLP too.
I suggest a chiro. I've been going and it has tremendously helped with RLP

  • They should SERIOUSLY warn you about RLP! Right up there with morning sickness! I'm glad you got checked out and are feeling better. Mine is always worse on a full bladder too, like when I wake up I have DH help me up very slowly or else I get intense pain all throughout my lower abdomen :(

  • I get a less intense pain like that in my stomach sometimes during the night sometimes. It's enough to make me stop moving and breathe it out but it goes away within 10-15 seconds... I just assumed it was RLP
