I gave LO his first scrambled egg yesterday, it was a huge hit. I am stopping using mashed foods/pouches so looking for easy ways to feed him. My question though is how often can he get eggs? Assume daily is too frequent or am I wrong?

I just make a batch of chia banana berry pancakes and they are a hit with me so far LOL!!!

We have eggs a lot, like probably 4-5 a week. No issues here! I honestly never thought about ever having eggs too frequently.....

  • I had a similar concern (the women in my family ALL have high cholesterol that is only controlled with meds, so I worry) and looked it up. I read that babies and toddlers need extra cholesterol. We do a lot of avocado to work on the good fats. But, the good thing about eggs is that you can mix all kinds of good veggies in them!

My pedi encourages eggs as a protein source for children who don't like meat. But, I was on a 4 egg/day diet in my last weeks of pregnancy (LOs had IUGR) and between those and my never ending morning sickness, I still cannot stomach the sight or smell of scrambled eggs. I say make em if you have the time and the egg smell doesn't get to you!

Interesting all the women in your family have high cholesterol. I got mine from my Dad, my reading at 11 years old was over 400!!

I am a WAHMso I have the time to make, as long as I plan the morning accordingly. Thanks for the info.

  • DS gets a scrambled egg almost every morning- about 5-6 times a week. He loves them and enjoys stabbing the pieces with a fork before stuffing them in his mouth. The whole egg is gone in under 2 minutes :)

  • @Roxie5739- 400 at 11?! Oh my! If you don't mind me asking, what is the plan for you and a statin? My docs want me to consider one, but I'm still considering more children. I told them I'll do it when I feel good about being done TTC- I'm thinking in 3-4 years. I took Lipitor when I was in college and it got down to 130s, but my most recent reading without meds was 191...good for me!!

It's funny you say that about the men. We are totally flipped in my family. The women all have high cholesterol and low BP. The men are the exact opposite!

I have been on meds for years, many on statins. I have not been on them for the last 18 months while pg and now BF'ing but need to get back on them as soon as I am done. I have had the best success taking statins wi fist oil, CoQ10 and Red yeast rice. Each alone does not do much for me but the combo gets me right down and with high HDL's the only reason my reading is over 200 on this mix. Maybe look into the mix of the 3 natural supps like I take as that may save you from taking statins for a while. GL!!
