Moms That Use In-Home Caregiver

What sort of equiptment is typically provided to an in-home caregiver?

A neighbor VERY close to us will be watching DD after she arrives, and I'm trying to make a list of things I might need to provide and what we can just share. Her DD is 7 so I'm sure they don't have anything currently.

If you have any advice or experience with this, it'd be a big help. Here's what I'm thinking:

Buy:
Pack-n-play
Stroller

Unsure:
Car seat (maybe she and DH can share one bc we always take my SUV)

Re: Moms That Use In-Home Caregiver

  • Wait, in your home, or in her house?

For my MIL who watches my daughter 2 days a week in our home, we provided an extra carseat base. Once the baby was old enough, we bought her a convertible carseat.

For my friend who watches her 3 days a week in her home (she does this as a business) we provided a pack n play I got off of craigslist. You could also provide a high chair and/or booster seat.

I also got them both a rock and play for their homes.

  • We got my mother a booster seat, a car seat base (and then a convertible), a pack n play (and then got a crib from a neighbor for practically free). Second hand toys for her house. We also got a bouncy chair and a swing second hand as well. As the baby got older, she would find great second hand things that we would pay her back for (stroller, books, etc.)

  • I would ask her what she wants. Some people use certain equipment more than others

    1st pregnancy: m/c began 1/12/09 d&c 1/13/09 8wks. Baby stopped growing at about 6wks.

  • I would say it depends on it being a business or a friend. But as pp said asking what she needs is a good way to go.
  • Thanks, ladies! It's her home and a neighbor/friend. This is a great starting point.
