Highlights from the ER

It's not the flu, or RSV, or an ear infection! Or mouth sores. The guy was really hung up on mouth sores. Wtf.

I changed a diaper in a public bathroom for the first time ever! And that public bathroom was an ER bathroom :(

In order to perform said diaper change, I talked a nurse into giving me one of the superduty germicidal wipes that you have to wear gloves to touch. Those things will kill AIDS. I may have a germ problem.

I think tiny hospital gowns are adorable. I think that's probably kind of sad.

After 24 hours with almost no poop, Luke was up half a pound! And then he made a half-pound diaper :$

I got puked on after Luke's first encounter with a tongue depressor. A lot. It went down my shirt and into my bra.

It did not occur to me until after the nurse left the room that he had probably been trying to reassure me about the amount of vomit that had just come out of my kid. Because it had not occurred to me that that amount of vomit was abnormal.

I didn't know how to get back out to the parking lot because we've never left that way before.

We are home. And if we make it to Wednesday, this will be our longest-ever stretch without an overnight hospital stay. And (now) if we make it to April 22, that will be our longest-ever stretch without a hospital visit of any kind. So that's the goal. No more until after Easter. Hey Luke, you're giving up hospitals for Lent, ok?

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts!
DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome.
131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
