June 2014 Moms

~*Born to Run JuneBugs*~

This is a weekly thread for runners who are due June 2014, that is posted on Mondays. All who run--or who want to start running--are welcome, regardless of mileage, pace, ability, size, shape, or terrestrial status. This is a place to talk about running while pregnant, training, runs, races, gear, recovery, nutrition, and whatever else we can think of.

Anyone who posts here regularly should feel free to start the thread on Mondays if it seems to be missing.

  • How were your runs this week? Lay it on us... I only got two runs in last week, which was more due to laziness than anything else. I plan to get at least 3 in this week and I start weekly yoga on Wednesday so hopefully that'll be a good addition to my routine.

  • Had a down week because of hip issue.  It seems that I can't do impact exercises (running) or even exercises that have me standing up for too long (elliptical).  Hoping my body just needed a little break and that this isn't something that is my new normal.

Managed to get in elliptical twice (30 min each), 2 strength training sessions, and a 1 hour swim.  I wish I would swim more - it feels SO good!  It's just a huge pain to get there (I pretty much HAVE to do swimming at night after dinner)

Hoping for a better week this week with hopefully a short run (with no pain!)

  • Crap is it Monday already?! Totally forgot!!

No running this week for me. Wondering if I'm done here on out or not.
  • No running still (I live in Ohio and this winter has been killing me!) but I did just order two support bands from Amazon in hopes that I can start run/walks again soon!

Running is getting increasingly harder.  I use to run 5 miles around 45 mins.  Now I'm rolling for about 33-35 miles to cover 3 miles (but refer to this as "wogging" (walk/jogging).  I find that I do better if I take a day or two between running.  On off days, I've been walking 2-3 miles on my lunch break and downloaded an app to count steps.  At least this way, when I can't run I'm still aware of my activity level.

Everytime I run I think the end is coming soon. Then I remember how many weeks I have until I can start again, and try to milk it a little longer!

  • hey runners :)

my workouts this week were pretty good.  i was able to go to yoga, bootcamps and even a couple of runs.  i am starting to resent running in my neighborhood because there are so many hills.  i might have to drive to a flatter area to make it easier on me.  i start prenatal yoga tonight (thanks groupon) and i am so excited!

@Kinipela7 how has swimming been for you? i was a swimmer for years and now i am tempted to start up again especially since joints are starting to hurt due to the weight. a friend of mine also said swimming is great because our bellies act as a buoy in the water lol.

  • @lola4411 - swimming is really great - I can't say enough good things about it.  I go to the rec center and it's not really down the street so it takes some planning to get there.  I wish it was more convenient because I'm happy with it.  I kept reading in pregnancy books that it's really good because you feel weightless - I certainly don't feel weightless at all.  I do freestyle and I feel like my belly is dragging on the bottom of the pool!  I'm definitely not a swimmer, but if you are I would try it out if you have a pool close!  Full body workout that doesn't hurt at all - can't get any better than that!  I can also go for longer so I get better workouts in on swimming days.

  • @Kinipela7 thanks i have been meaning to try it out!  what bathing suit do you wear?  there is no way i would fit in my swim speedo right now and i would never work out in one of my bikinis preggers or not lol

  • @lola4411 - I actually have a Nike one piece swimsuit that I have had from my "bigger" years - haha so I am wearing that one and it's a little big but I put a sports bra under it and it works out great!

  • I think my running days are over unfortunately. We FINALLY had nice weather here in Atlanta yesterday, so I took advantage of it. OMG! my pelvis was killing me while just walking up the huge hill in my neighborhood so I ended up just walking a couple miles. Today I feel like I got kicked in the box! LOL!! I walked again tonight, but on the treadmill and was still uncomfortable. I signed up for a 5k on the 15th because I'm going through withdrawal, but I will most likely be a walker.

Keep up the good work everyone that is still able to run...and to the rest of you that are at least getting out and doing something. Looks like walking and crossfit will be my routine now.

  • @nicolewhelan if you are still doing crossfit you should feel so good about yourself!!  yoga has really helped me so maybe stretching will help with your hip and box issue ;)

  • @lola4411 thanks! I'm hoping continuing the crossfit will help me keep some core strength to push this sucker out in 4 months! LOL! I will definitely make it a point to do nightly stretches too, thanks!

  • Due to sick hubby and some weird weather in northeast Texas I only managed 3 runs, about 8 miles total. Still feeling really good tho, and the pee urge has lessened... Oddly enough! Ready to hit the track the rest of this week!
  • I want everyone to linger, regardless of running!!  This is my favorite thread of the week!!!
  • I agree @sjdihle!  Look forward to this thread every week!

  • @Mease8 i have a similar workout style to you.  while i do go for regular weekly runs, i always mix in yoga and HIIT class workouts with lifting.  this may be called a runners thread but i think we all welcome anyone who is still (trying to) working out at this stage :)

  • Personally, I plan on posting even when the only running I'm doing is "running to the bathroom".
