No way. Baby is barely getting any food. I am not ready to dive into citrus. It'll be a while.

Not yet. I am waiting until the 1 year mark.

No, but I'm not opposed to it. I'm waiting for the right opportunity.

Yes, but only when it was part of some other food. Not by itself.

Yes, only once (or twice).

Yes, citrus foods are in the regular rotation.

Grace, when you say you're going to demonstrate orange juggling, is that a euphemism?

Re: Clicky Poll - Citrus?

  • DS1 had such bad blowouts and bum rash from the acidity of citrus that I haven't introduced it yet out of fear. They are so different digestive system wise already though so I might give a whirl in the next month or so.
Other than honey I don't really have specific guidelines in my head about the "when" of foods for Lo.

  • Pedi hasn't said anything about citrus. I added some freshly squeezed orange juice, blended with her apple juice and some strawberries like a smoothie. She loved it.

  • He's had those mandarin oranges in water that come in fruit cups.

  • She's had little bites of orange when I've been eating some, and she has had a pouch that is Orange Banana but that's it.  She's seemed fine with it so I'll keep giving her citrus in small doses.

My pedi said no honey, citrus or large fish before 2. Everything else is ok closer to 1. I picked the grace option. *

I've never heard of avoiding anything past the one year mark. I would go nuts trying to avoid honey that long.

  • He has a clementine a couple times a week. No trouble with citrus over here!

  • Citrus is part of our regular rotation of food here. Baby had an orange wedge after dinner last night, and has had a small tangerine before. I also cook with it, and she's had it incorporated in food. No reaction to it (or anything).

I am going to wait until a year since it's acidic. I know I don't have to, but better safe than sorry!
  • We haven't but we also not avoiding it. He has really only became interest in food this past month.

  • Not yet but ds2 just turned 8 months yesterday. I'm going to wait a little longer since I remember ds1 getting bum irritation from the acidity.

  • DD loves clementines so much she shakes with delight when I get one.

  • She gets a lemon every time we go out to a restraunt. She loves them and we've never had a problem.

  • Our pedi said anything other than honey is fair game at this point, however when we were first introducing solids, A had a reaction that we weren't sure if it was from oats or MILs citric perfume. We've come to the conclusion it was from the perfume (because she eats and loves oats with no further problems). So, we're holding off on citrus for now. She has plenty of other foods to try to keep her busy until around 1 year.

  • Natalie has only been fussy when I've eaten citrus so I don't think her tummy likes the acid in my breast milk. Going to hold off on giving her any citrus until she's older just in case She has a problem with the stuff straight up as well

  • If I eat citrus and nurse her she spits up like crazy so I'm avoiding feeding it to her until her reflux calms down.
