Breastfeeding

milk donation

Can someone educate me on some worthwhile agencies that provide free breastmilk donation? I'm interested in donating my freezer supply (and can most likely continue to donate in the future), but I'm a bit overwhelmed when I do a google search.  I don't know if some places pay the donor or require the recipient to pay, but I'd like to steer clear of any of that and donate to someone that wants breastmilk, but may not have the resources to buy it from a bank.  Thanks!

Re: milk donation

  • When I donated milk, I did it through the Human Milk for Human Babies for my state on facebook.  I've also heard that Mothers Milk Cooperative is a good one as well.  Search for them on facebook and you will be able to find out a lot of information with them.  :)

  • I donated to a hmbna milk bank. They paid for blood testing, shipped me a cooler and gave me prepaid shipping labels and also shipped me milk storage bags as a reimbursement. It was pretty rigorous screening and minimum 200 oz donation but they are very reputable and supply nicus at hospitals.
