Re: Pregnant & TTC After A Preemie 2/28/14

  • Loading the player...
  • Last week I was totally zen, like "whatever happens this time, I am one with calm."  I lost my zen. It laughed at me as it packed its bags and ran out the door. My milestone with DS is this week and I am really nervous! I just keep thinking of how if I hadn't had a doctor's appointment that day, we would have never known DS was sick and it would have been too late. I told DH I need to go to the doctor every day from now on to have them check DD... I was only half-joking. So if you see my friend zen, tell him to get his butt back over here because I neeeeeed him.

  • @flergirl I completely understand and totally had the same thing when I hit my 26 week milestone with DD. I told myself at least I know what to expect in the NICU and that girls tend to do better. However, when I hit 28 weeks, I did nothing but freak out and cry all the time. Keep in mind that this was when I was told that my cervix was basically pretty much 100% effaced, but still closed. OB and MFM thought it would be better if I stayed home until 32 weeks since the car ride was an hour and said could also trigger labor. Since I never got that far with DS, I didn't know what RLP was and cried every time I felt it cause I was convinced I was having her. DH was my rock the whole time and kept me sane.

Believe me that I know this is much easier said than done, but keep your brain busy with other things like reading a book or doing a hobby. I was cross stitching A LOT-which I haven't done in years! lol! Plus you can always vent and get reassurance here. You have been doing a great job and baby Jenna just keeps growing! BTW, that is an adorable pic of Joshua in your siggy! :)

  • I just finished my last pack of BCPs two cycles after the D&C so we're TTC again. My boys were born at 29w4d due to ptl almost two years ago.

I have a preconception appointment with a new OB on Tuesday. I'm asking for some early monitoring due to my loss history, and I'm asking for P17 starting at 16w. If I have contractions I want a prescription for procardia and proactive bed rest. Is there anything else you would ask for?

Thanks, @punky917! Good to know that my crazy has a buddy :) That is partly my issue as well - my last pregnancy was sooo different. Every time baby moves now I'm like AHHHH CALL 911 because DS rarely moved and when he did he was so small I barely felt it. I don't like all of the newness! But your story gives me hope that I can also do FT, or even something wild like 32 weeks.

My hobby has been to clean ALL THE THINGS in anticipation of an early arrival and/or bedrest. My H is probably ready to kill me but I am scrubbing and organizing and am ready to bask in the cleanliness of my home at a moment's notice. And thank you! Josh likes to wear sunglasses for the ladies.

  • Hi all! 32 weeks today! CL have all been fine so they are not checking anymore. I have mild polyhydramnios so I get weekly NSTs. Contractions are ever present, but as long as baby stays cooking I think I can manage them!

  • @flerlgirl I have a yo-yo relationship with zen. Some days/weeks it's like it's slowly rolling away from me and then other days/weeks I manage to slowly drag it back in, and it goes back and forth like that. I've been feeling pretty zen for the past few days. I think I'm overdue for some panic.  :-S Also, your DS is too cool for school in that picture!

@missa_g I don't have any suggestions, but best of luck TTC! I hope we see you on the pregnant side of things soon!

  • @bluebird2318 - I hope you stay zen-like! Babies are a total mind eff... but they are so cute that it's hard to be mad. At least we have each other; come find me if you need to be talked back into the zen. Or if you want some Thin Mints. And thanks, haha - DS just wants to impress the ladies.

  • @missa_g - no advice because it sounds like you are on it! Good luck to you at your appointment and come back to let us know what they say!

  • 33 weeks today. Had my appointment with my new OB and am very pleased with the switch! She was far more friendly with my care and was supportive of my desire for VBAC. Well worth the 1.5 hour distance from my home! BP good, still no apparent pre-e concerns. Baby boy is definitely head down for now as well, which is good. No complaints!
Awesome update! So glad this new doctor is not scared by your wild and crazy VBAC desires.
