Am I Pregnant on NuvaRing??

I need advice from experienced mamas!

It's a running joke for my husband and me that I think I'm pregnant every month; and I'm aware of that and exactly what symptoms I experience when (I track everything in an app) so that I can immediately rule out a pregnancy. I'm on nuvaring, I want a baby but my husband isn't ready yet. But this month was DIFFERENT. We did the deed (possible date of conception) on Feb. 14th after which I had a pink discharge. My symptoms were all over the place, irritable, frequent urination, food cravings and aversions, extreme fatigue, bizarre dreams, sore breasts, the whole shabang. Finally, I had my period (after HPT negative) but it was only two days (I go usually 5) and light-ish and bright red, none of those are normal for me. But I thought "hey, aunt flow! guess that rules out pregnancy."

NOW, a week after my period, I'm still just feeling so off and so weird. I'm incredibly moody and irritable, so unusual to be lasting so long. I have not been sleeping well (which could be affecting everything else) and I have had extreme dizziness and nausea every. day.

I recently moved so I don't have an appointment with my new gyno until April 1st. I can definitely test again, but I'm expecting a negative because I have tested so much and getting the big fat negative, so I've lost hope. But in addition to that, I don't trust the negative result because there is clearly something bizarre going on with my body.

Those of you experienced with pregnancy, what do you think? Should I test again? and if it's negative, what then?

Also, my basal body temperature has been ALL over the place; so I don't trust that as an indicator.

Re: Am I Pregnant on NuvaRing??

  • How are your basals all over the place? Do you chart? You should post your chart and the date you DTD and that will help us have a little more information.

Also, if you have your period, you aren't pregnant. No matter how "light" it is...

And again, why don't you trust you HPT? You sound like you don't trust a whole lot!

There, right there, you answered your own question. You know you got a period, so you know you're not pregnant. It is not possible to have a "period" while pregnant.

  • I was on nuvaring for many years. At one point my period just stopped and never came back until I was off of it and my OB said that was normal. So having your period for only 2 days while on nuvaring when it's usually 5 isn't abnormal at all. Also, birth control and/or lots of other things can cause those symptoms. If you are continually getting negative tests you are not pregnant.

If you are trying to prevent pregnancy (husband isn't ready, taking hormonal contraceptives), why would bfns be disappointing?
Also, there very well could be something up, but an hpt will only tell you if you are pregnant; of course you cannot trust it to reveal anything else about your health.

Oh geez this is this chick who posted on BOTB in December wondering if she was pregnant after she "accidentally" forgot to put in a new NuvaRing for 17 days.

If you are indeed charting, here's a thought, don't DTD when you O. There's another simple, hormone free way to lessen your odds of getting KU.
She's on birth control!!!  She doesn't ovulate!

Actually, you're correct. I haven't been on BC for 10 years or so, so excuse my brain fart on how that shiz works. Then, like other PPs have stated, WTF is she temping if she doesn't O?

I think I understand, we're not giving her the answers that she is looking for, that is why she is not coming back. Here... let's try this:

"ZOMG... your totes preggley, this is obviously possible within the realm of chemistry... go pee on something else!"

Yeah... did that do it for ya?

I hate waking up 2 1/2 weeks later wondering if I have a plastic circle in my vaj or not... don't you?

You should definitely post this in the TTGP board
No you should NOT post this in the TTGP board!!
If you had your period and a negative HPT, then you are not pregnant.
