Pregnant after IF

**2IF Grad Check-In**

Congrats to everyone for making it here!  This check-in is for graduates of the 2IF board (and any other secondary infertility grads).  If you are new to the check-in, please let us know your due date and you will be added for next week.

Congrats to Jeffreysmom24 on your recent BFP, and welcome to the 2IF Grad Check-In!  I’m glad you finally started posting.  I was also paranoid as hell the first time I posted, so I understand wanting to lurk for a bit.  AlmostWright, so sorry your tech got you all freaked out.  I hope you get a good report from your MFM and will let us know how it went.  Looks like everyone that posted last week had appointments coming up; looking forward to reading everyone’s updates.

Also, I think it’s probably time for someone else to take the torch and do the weekly 2IF grad check-in.  I have no more than 6 Mondays left between now and delivery, possibly less if she comes before the induction date.  I don’t want to go into labor early and be worrying about the weekly check-in.  And I probably would worry about it, because I’m weird like that.  It’s easy; I just copy and paste from a Word document.  Any takers?

2.  Any medical updates (appointments, ultrasounds, tests/results, etc.)?

3.  How are you feeling lately?

Re: **2IF Grad Check-In**

  • I'm 32 weeks and in serious shock about how fast things are moving now.  6 1/2 weeks left until induction!  I have more energy and am sleeping a little bit better lately (other than pee breaks during the night, which have come back after going away during 2nd tri).  Had our MFM scan last week and baby girl looks great, as well as placenta and fluids.  She measured 4lbs, 5oz, bigger than average but not huge.  Her head is down.  The Braxton Hicks have slowed down which I'm glad about.  And the crazy headache has subsided, at least for now.  We have our 34 week appointment 3/14 and I think that's when we schedule the induction, which will be no later than 39 weeks.  Woohoo!

QOTW:  We are planning to do some type of gift exchange, but I'm not sure what (which is partly why this is the QOTW..... I knew you ladies would have good ideas!).  I think DS will be giving the baby a blanket, since DS's most beloved position (even at 7 years old) is his "boonkie."  We thought it would be cute if he gave LO a "boonkie" of her own,  and he seemed to like the idea.  Have no idea what baby will be giving him though.  He knows he is getting something from the baby, and I think he is expecting something amazingly awesome.  I should never have let it slip!

  • 1. 7w4d today. Moving right along.
    2. Next appt is Monday to go over lab results and take an early GD test.
    3. Tired. Nauseated and food aversions have definitely hit. I mean, I have Girl Scout cookies in the house that have gone uneaten because they just don't sound good. Starting to feel a little more secure but still super nervous about this pregnancy.
    4. We have thought about it. We are definitely going to get something for DD from the baby. I have had friends who got the older child a "big kid" kind of gift to hit home they aren't the baby anymore. Like a big sister book. I hadn't thought about what DD will get the baby, but I like the idea of a blanket or lovey.

  • Thanks for the warm welcome tryingyetagain and so excited that you are in the home stretch! Glad you are starting to feel better too and that the baby is doing great! Sorry I can't volunteer to do the checkins because I am only on mobile (work blocks TB unfortunately) but I will keep an eye on this thread and if no one else can do it, then I will see if I can. I have a laptop at home but it is never plugged in.

    1. 7 weeks, 2 days!
    2. Had my last RE appt today. Saw the heartbeat, it was 146 and my first appt with the OB is next Thursday.
    3. Feeling good, only symptom is that I am hungry all the time!
    4. I had not even thought about gifts but I like the idea! It is still hard for me to let myself think ahead, just trying to make it from one appt to the next. But I do want to buy Jeffrey a big brother tshirt at some point!
  • 1. 31 weeks. I actually had to see where you are @tryingyetagain because I couldn't remember. It's been a long day.
    2. Next appointment is Wednesday. I'm on my biweekly appointments now.
    3. I jinxed myself and had a hormonal break down (see other post). I'm feeling exhausted and work is getting harder. My back kills. I need to man up though because I still have a weeks. Doesn't help that my classroom is on the second floor and I work at a school on a steep hill.
    4. DD asked if she could pick out baby's take home outfit. That might be a good thing for now. "Baby" will probably get DD a special piece of jewelry. She's been wearing a locket thar DH got me for mothers day after she was born so I think it's time she gets something nice.
And because I'm an AW, here's a comparison of DD at birth and baby's ultrasound. Poor DD was so swollen from my pushing for 2 1/2 hours!
    PS. that's baby's foot by his/her head :)

They do look alike. I'm jealous of your super clear excellent 3-D photo. Our MFM wasn't able to get a good one between baby's hand and the cord right in front of her face, plus all the goop she was covered in!

  • Congrats to @CheesyPeas, @cerad5, and @Jeffreysmom24!!!

    1.  18 weeks

    2.  I got my results for the spina bifida screening and they were normal...one less hurdle. I go to the OB today for my monthly visit. I'm getting an u/s at every visit to check my cervical length because apparently having a D&E puts you at risk for a shortening cervix. So far, it's been fine. I'm looking forward to seeing my LO again later.

    3.  I'm feeling good...I still get tired, especially on the days I exercise, but good overall.

    4.  I honestly hadn't considered this yet, but I love the idea!! We are team green, so I think I'll probably generate some ideas, but wait until the baby arrives before making a decision.

  • 20 weeks! This may be a long update, I apologize. I had the MFM appt yesterday, and baby was very uncooperative but she finally got the pictures she needed and baby looks healthy. On the smaller side but the dr was not worried. The crazy part--MaterniT21 showed the presence of the Y chromosome, but ultrasound shows baby is a girl! We met with the doctor and the genetic counselor, who called the genetic counselor at the maternit21 lab, and they all think the Y chromosome was from the vanishing twin. We didn't think much of it having the test done, since the second sac never had a heartbeat and was reabsorbed by 8 weeks, but apparently that is enough and that DNA can stick around for up to 30 weeks. They offered us an amnio to confirm, but said since baby seems healthy they didn't really see a need for it. No one was worried about anything being wrong with the baby, and we have a follow up ultrasound in 4 weeks. They said if we didn't have maternit21 done, they would have told us girl and moved on without question. DH and I still feel uncertain about saying 100% baby is a girl so we are thinking team green until the next ultrasound, but starting to call baby 'her' and think of girl names. Can you update me on the list to team green instead of blue?

Other that the crazy emotions of yesterday, I have to have my gall bladder checked for gall stones (another ultrasound--we are looking at like 15 this pregnancy which worries me a bit being so many), and I have been pretty uncomfortable with cramping and some braxton hicks already and bladder issues still so I feel like I have been complaining a lot!

QOTW: I really like this idea! I think we will have DS pick out a blanket or something along those lines for the baby. We are thinking of getting DS a kids camera for a big brother gift. He loves to take pictures with our phones, and this way he can be involved in taking pictures of the baby.

  • Tryingyetagain - I didn't see that anyone else has offered to take over the check ins, so if you want, I would be happy to do it unless someone else wants to. Just trying to help you out! Let me know if I should start on Monday.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend!

Thank you so much, Jeffreysmom! That would be great. I just have the document in MS Word and that's where I make the changes each week. I re-read through the prior week's posts to make sure I get any updates in there. Then I copy and paste it into a new post. I also copy and paste the web address into a post on the 2IF board in case they want to check out the grad update. If you have any questions or problems at all, just let me know. I'll still be around until baby Carolina makes her grand entrance!
