January 2014 Moms

If moms designed baby clothes....

All long sleeved shirts/sleepers would have fold-over cuffs so my child won't look like a bear attacked his face.

All pants would have built-in footies... who wants to eff with socks!?

Seriously, I went to buybuybaby today and found basically nothing that has both of these!  Am I the only one that looks for this stuff?  Where do you find clothes with these conveniences?

Re: If moms designed baby clothes....

  • Amen! Seriously! And people need to design cute baby socks that stay on! My baby is chubby now but I think that all of the "cute" socks we have are for babies with cankles!

  • I've got a few and I love the fold over cuffs more than the footies. My issue w the feet is they never seem to be sewed correctly as one footie always turns and her poor foot/toes get stuck.
  • @Rojovol34 - do they have the cuff things too?  DS loves to rub his face and no matter what i do to his nails, he will scratch and draw blood even :(

  • I agree! I'm especially desperate for the onesies with mitten folds. I found only one style at BRU, and we ended up buying two sets of them so Ollie is pretty much always wearing the same thing. But it's so necessary. It drives me crazy that even the sleep n' plays aren't made to cover hands. I don't understand it.

We also received some gift outfits with pants that have attached feet. I think they're all Carters (which isn't super helpful, seeing as how Carters has different extensions everywhere) but they do exist! Just difficult to find.

I would make them all zip or magnetic. Have you seen these clothes? Insanely cute and so flippin'vewsy to put on baby: https://magnificentbaby.myshopify.com Edited: flippin'vewsy = flippin' easy. Srsly autocorrect.

  • @thegosiers YES!  Forgot that in OP, def zippers or magnets.  I bought one of these when i was pregnant and he is just about to fit into it!  The pants don't have footies though :/

  • I would have all zippered sleepers zip top to bottom for easier diaper changes.

I've found that the old navy footie pj's have the fold over sleeves. Some carters do, but not all

  • I agree! DS was tiny so socks fell off all the time so I loved putting him in footie sleep & plays. Only now that he's gained weight the socks now semi-stay on, but I have to tuck his pants in his socks just so the stinking things stay on!  I don't deal with BRU or BBB because frankly their clothes are overpriced.  I just go to Carter's and it so happens that they have a sale on all their clearance. I have $30 in extra bucks (or whatever they call it) so I'm going this week to see what they have.

I am really loving the mitten folds because DD is quite skinny and those little no scratch mittens and socks don't stay on her but the built in ones do. We have a few outfits with those and with feet. My grandma bought her a Disney outfit from Walmart that has both. A friend bought an outfit from Children's Place that has footies (and I can't remember about the mittens on that one). She also got a pack of 3 onesies that came from target that had the mittens and they can match many types of pants, so you could easily pair them with a pair of pants with built in feet.

  • I have only noticed newborn size have the mitten fold overs. Are there brands with larger sizes that fold over?

    Its a surprise! Team green!

Zippers all the way!  I try to only buy sleepers with zippers.  Sometimes I find a super cute one with snaps, and I get sad thinking, why couldn't you just have a zipper?

  • As for socks, I put socks on with her pants tucked into them.  It helps them stay on just a little better.

    @roses87
I've only seen NB size with mitts. The gowns we have that vary btwn 0-3 or 0-6 mo sizes all have mitts so that's what we sleep in.

THIS. Sweet mother of GOD why would they continue to make crap with snaps?!?! To add insult to annoyance my DH was talking to DD all "Mom has trouble with the snaps" to which I replied "Dad doesn't get up to nurse you every 2hrs bcuz he has problems without BOOBS."
@thegosiers: Magnets? WOMAN YOU ARE GENIUS.
