Survived my cerclage procedure and yay still pregnant :)

There won't be a long winded breakdown of my experience here - just to say - I had a Shirodkar cerclage put in and it went fine. There were a few odd moments - like the anesthesiologist assuming I was having general anesthesia, and then looking at me like I was crazy when I said I preferred a spinal or epidural ( to reduce any added risk to the baby). But he agreed to do a spinal. Then there was the 4 hours it took for me to take a piss afterwards so I could be released from hospital.... and the nurses pushing me to piss so they could go home since I was their last patient. However, beyond that it was uneventful. The doc didn't even check if the baby was ok ( before or after ) the procedure .... lol.... so I whipped out my doppler tonight and he's still beating strong in there. I'm too tired to write much more - but this momma lives to fight another day!

  • I am glad to hear that it went well, but that is crazy they didn't check on the baby before or after the procedure! Do you have to be put on bed rest at all now or just go on as usual?

  • No bedrest - in fact the doctor just said - see you in a month!

Needless to say - I"m headed back to to my high risk practice in the States in a few weeks because a cervix can completely unravel in half that time - even with a cerclage.....
