Parenting after a Loss

One more intro (from a TTCALer)

Good morning! I wanted to do an intro here (just as my fellow TTCALers had). I had intro'd at 2IF after someone suggested it me, but I don't have an IF dx, so I didn't really feel I could call the board "home". I have lurked and lurked and I love how welcoming you all were to @morethansparrows08, @frenchteachermama and @rmpar29. I want to be honest and I am very nervous about posting an intro. I hate drama and I would never intentionally hurt anyone. As many of you read Sparrow's intro, you may have also read the link someone posted from TTCAL since it was commented in her intro. I am only bring it up since "it" was already mentioned.  I was the OP of that thread. Again, I never meant to hurt anyone or stir up drama. I don't want you to have a bad impression of me. I am new and made an honest mistake and learned from it. I am looking forward to calling this place home, if you will have me. With all that being said, let me intro...

My name is Stephanie, I will be 30 in April. MH is 31 and we have been married for 4.5 years. Our son turned 3 in January. We have had a total of 3 losses. My first MC was before my son, and had 2 more last year (it's all in my siggy). We burned the bench in Feb, but decided to TTA until May/June. I am a school nurse. Having a Feb/March baby will allow me to get a longer mat. leave since I don't work in the summer. I was a SAHM for almost 2 years until I accepted the job as a school nurse.

I'm not a complete "crunchy mom", but I did nurse my son for 19 months (self weaned :( wish he would have done 2 years) and he had store bought baby food once while we were on vacation. I made all his food in my kitchen. If I can offer anything to the nursing or home-made-baby-food-making mommies, just ask...And congrats to new mommies on their precious rainbows babies!!!

I am active on the private TTCAL with living children check-in that @rmpar29 is running. She is an amazing check-in leader and I am so glad I have the check-in. All the ladies that participate are helpful, kind and have become my friends. I look forward to seeing the check-in here and getting to know more TTCAL mommies on PAL. I also wanted to give ((HUGS)) to those that may have had a recent loss.

Welcome! I'm sorry for your losses. This board is very low drama. I tend to call this board home because it's such a drama free zone. I wouldn't label myself "crunchy" but DH calls me "hippie". I EBF, CD, use homemade detergent, and plan to do BLW. I like the idea of extended BFing but we'll see how it goes. DH isn't really on board and considering how far apart we want our kids it may not work. For now I'm trying to build a decent freezer stash to use once we wean from the breast.
Thanks so much!!! This seems like such a wonderful place!!! I wouldn't really label myself "crunchy" either lol. I never did the CD though. I made home-made fabric softener a few times, but DH said it was easier to just buy it  :-w. My mom BF me for 4 months and my sister even less than that. She was pretty shocked when I pasted a year, and was freaked out when he was 15 mo and kept going. I didn't care though. I knew it was what I wanted to do. I set a 12 mo goal, the 15 mo and let him self wean. Building up a stock supply was so hard! I made enough to just get by and NO ONE was allowed to touch it unless I approved. I was kind of crazy.

I also used breast milk for EVERYTHING! MH thought I was weird. He came home one day and gave us all pink eye. DS was only 5 months old and had it. They gave him drops and ointment, but I didn't want to give it to him. I researched and they said BM treats pink eye and OMG it did! I put it in his eye and it cleared up by the next day. I actually used his rx for my eye and I was so glad I didnt' put it my baby's eye. It stung so bad. I ended up clearing mine with BM as well.

  • Welcome! I'm so sorry for your losses. I hope your TTA time goes by quickly and you get your sticky baby soon.

I'm a semi-crunchy mom, too. I'm still nursing DD at 20 months, we CD, and I made all of her baby food myself (so much cheaper!). But we use disposable wipes, paper towels, ect. Meh, you do what you can!
