Baby bulemia!

So my 2 month old boy has started this thing for a few days where he starts of with comfort fisting (no pun intended Face with stuck-out tongue and winking eye) and then put two of his fingers right at thr back of his mouth and makes himself gag! He hasnt brought anything back up this way but its quite distressing to watch (was quite funny the first time though). I have to be careful and not let him suck on his fist but hes very quick and sneaky about it. I need to stop this now dont I? Or just let him do it hoping he will grow out of it, cuz he makes a very confused/angry face when he does it. Does anyone else's baby do this?

  • Sorry for some reason my full post never gets posted, i will try later with laptop, mobile bumping sucks
  • I do apologize I did not mean to be insensitive. I see it now that you have pointed it out.
  • As far as shoving his fingers/fist in his mouth it is pretty normal and I would like to see you try and stop him. My LO started a couple weeks ago and there is no stopping her. He could be starting to teeth so maybe give him something else to chew on. Also chewing things is how babies learn, they are oral learners.

  • Really? Teething so soon at just 9 weeks? Plus he doesnt really hold on to anything yet. I dont really mind him comfort sucking, its the gagging part that distresses me.
  • They can display teething long before we see the teeth. The gagging is distressing but until he learns you might just have to deal.

  • Unfortunately he doesnt take pacifiers either, throws them right back out as soon as I put one in.
  • I am in the same boat, no pacifiers, no bottles, no chewies so fingers it is. She will learn not to put them so far in her mouth, I hope

  • DS was doing this and it was because his mouth was hurting him from thrush.

  • My baby does this too.  She takes a paci sometimes, but sometimes she just uses her hands. She gags too.  I gently pull her hand out of her mouth 100 times a day.  I don't know how to stop it.
