I have been trying to wean Avery for awhile. I've been trying don't offer/dont refuse. She constantly asks. I'm beyond frustrated. She still nurses 2+ times at night and several times during the day. If I refuse she throws a major tantrum and doesn't stop crying until I give in. At this rate she will literally be nursing until she goes to college! Someone please tell me I'm not alone.
Re: for those that are still BFing
When I weaned during the day I cut out one session at a time for a week or two. Then moved on to the next. Maybe something like that would work? It can be a big adjustment if you are stopping cold turkey. For the MOTN sessions I had H get up with her. It took a week but she stopped waking as much and started sleeping 5+ most nights. She still gets up at night but wil sleep longer stretches now which has saved my sanity.

For the rest of the pregnancy, we practiced don't-offer-don't-refuse, and it worked. We were down to probably 4x just during the day (wake up, nap, snack, bedtime).
However, once DS2 came, my big boy wanted to nurse anytime the baby did. He was possessive of boob and got mad when it wasn't his turn. I didn't say no to him, but I couldn't handle nursing both boys every two hrs.
For my own sanity, I had to start saying no. Now, he only gets to nurse when he wakes up and before brushing teeth. He's gotten a lot better at hearing no and is okay if I say he needs to wait until after dinner. We also practice count-down where I start counting back from ten and he has to get off before one. He then gets a high-five and goes about his day.
Sorru for the novel. It gets easier! We even have some days where he forgets to ask for some,- and we go with it.
I'm mostly frustrated because she is fine if I'm not around, but the second she sees me she is crying to nurse.
