1 week old feeding issues

Hi ladies,

I hope someone here has a success story which will lift my spirits. I posted here a few months ago about preparing to BF since my first LO (DD)ended up EP due to inverted nipples, latch issues, tongue thrust and sensitive gag reflex and you all were such a help!

Now my DS is a week old and we are having trouble. He latched in the hospital and it was painful (I thought due to my inverted nipples) but he seemed OK. Fast forward past engorgement and he was only transferring .1 or .2 oz each feeding! I met w an LC and he has a posterior tongue tie and lip tie and was losing weight. His suck is a
A little unorganized but she thinks that will work itself out.

I'm giving bottles and trying to offer breast often (even tho he gets nothing) doing lots of skin to skin and even doing the tube thing taped to my breast once a day when DH can help so he associates breast as a happy place. ( you need 8 hands for that thing!)

We see a dr on Monday for the tie and I'm hoping they can fix right away. But I'm soooo scared he'll refuse breast altogether like DD did. BF is so incredibly important to me and I feel like a complete failure that I may not get that bf relationship I wanted w either of my kids!

Does anyone have any advice or success stories to keep me hanging on? I'm seriously losing my mind with no sleep, pumping like crazy (my supply is low), and everything else. My husband Is supportive but is worried about my health since I'm also dealing w post delivery hormones and crying. Ugh! I'm a mess!

    My LO is going on 8 weeks and had his second tongue tie release (the first one was done when he was 4 weeks old and they did not snip far enough) this past Monday. Things are looking up for us but I won't lie - it has been really challenging. The whole pumping while attempting to nurse thing has really worn me out and now my supply has taken a nosedive. I burned through my freezer stash so we are now supplementing with formula. On a positive note, we have now had two successful nursing attempts over the weekend. His latch is still a bit funky and my positioning needs work (I've been doing whatever I can to get him to latch and nurse which is not always comfortable), but transfer has been good enough this past week that he only seems to need about an ounce of supplement (his bottles are usually 3 1/2). So I am also wondering if there is light at the end of the tunnel, but baby steps I guess. If it is any consolation, I have now cried in front of three pediatricians in our group practice,two lactation consultants, and numerous friends and family members. At a certain point, I will need to distance myself from this issue and do what is best for our entire family, as all of this has been draining and has taken time away from other important things. That is okay if it is just temporary but we are at the two month mark now. As long as I see decent progress I will continue to try on some level. It is good news they caught the tongue tie early. In our case, the pediatricians minimized its impact despite obvious transfer and weight gain issues, pushed formula supplements right off the bat (which I was able to avoid until yesterday)...all of that delayed our ultimate referral to an ENT to fix the problem. It actually makes me quite angry when I think about it, which adds fuel to the fire in my belly to make this work. I had such an easy time with my oldest child so this has all been new to me. I hate the round the clock pumping routine. Hang in there. Some people get dramatic results after tongue tie is corrected. Ours was more modest and 7 weeks of bottle feedings didn't help.
