Shrinking nipples

My baby is almost a month and I thought we had gotten everything figured out. First I didn't have enough milk so I started pumping between feedings then had an over supply, so I gradually cut out pumping for about a week now. The past day or so, I've noticed my nipples have shrunk to what they were before I was pregnant. This is causing some latch issues. Has this happened to anyone else? Why would they shrink? Thanks
