Baby won't hold a good latch- help!

My LO is 5 weeks old, and just will not keep his latch, which is causing me intense pain. We met with an LC when he was 2 weeks old and worked on good latching/positioning techniques so I know he knows how to do it. But lately when I bring him to the breast, he opens wide, I put him on, and he immediately pulls back so he only has the tip of my nipple. I try taking him off and re-latching but that just makes us both frustrated and doesn't solve the problem anyway. I've tried hand expressing before feeding in case it's a letdown issue, but that doesn't seem to have made an impact. I'm seriously suffering here, any suggestions??

  • Can you see the LC again to try and figure out what's going on?

  • It's been 3 weeks since your LC checked your LO. I suggest you take him there again.
  • Thanks ladies...going back to LC tomorrow
