Belly Sleeping

So LO is fast asleep right now... On his belly. I put him down on his back, I heard a lil fussing and moving about, after he finally quieted down I checked on him and he was on his belly. Normally he gets really pissed when he does that at night and will scream til we flip him to his back. I know the whole once they can roll if they put themselves on their belly it's "ok", but it still makes me nervous. I don't want to flip him and wake him up but I feel like I'm going to be nervous all night and keep checking on him. Anyone else have an LO that sleeps on their belly?

Re: Belly Sleeping

  • I'm right there with you.  She's only done it once and it scared me so much I flipped her. Just keep telling yourself it's ok (sorry, i can't even take my own advice).

  • Belly sleeper here. I had to stop worrying and trusted that I knew she had amazing head control and ability to roll. My pedi made me feel better about it as far as risk factors and explained that 20 years ago I wouldn't have batted an eye.

  • LO has been sleeping on his belly for a while now. Honestly he sleeps better and more STTN.
  • Thanks ladies, it's nice to know I'm not the only one it makes nervous. I was prepared to just let him stay on his belly last night (esp since he's slept so poorly recently I hoped it would help). Apparently though DH is a bigger worrier than me and he flipped him to his back even though I told him not too!! Oh well...

  • I have a side or belly sleeper here.  It just depends on the day I guess.  He goes down on his back but shortly after shifts either to the side or all the way to the belly!

  • We were all belly sleepers! I get be nervous when they were younger but now that they can roll don't be concerned! Just make sure there are no pillows/blankies etc
  • He wakes on his belly everyday now.  50/50 chance on him getting pissy about it.

  • Tummy sleeper here too. Doctor said as long as they can roll both ways that reflux babies are better on their bellies. Lo turns his face side to side constantly so I know he's okay.
