Yup! We don't have any cable (just internet) and we are supposed to get a ton of snow, so I was worried that I would miss it. Of COURSE ABC is the only channel out there that makes it incredibly hard to get a live stream. But I just decided to trek the kiddos over to my parents and steal their t.v. :-) It works out because DH has to work from home tomorrow and the kiddos always make that tough on him.
DD#1 and I are watching. We love Ellen and we are waiting for Idina Menzel's performance of "Let it Go" from Frozen! My girls are in love with that movie and soundtrack!
I don't often get to watch these shows anymore, but DH was showering/shaving because he goes back to work tomorrow, so I turned it on and he won't change channels on me
I'm only half paying attention because I'm talking to my ladies (from my previous BMB, there's six of us that still chat on FB on the regular) about becoming a SAHM.
Loved Ellen, the pizza was hilarious. Feel bad for Leo, thought this was his year. I cannot believe John Travolta said Idina Menzel's name wrong. Stoked for Robert Lopez to get the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony), Broadway peeps represent!

I'm still kind of annoyed that Steve McQueen got passed over (at least he got a statuette for Best Film as a producer), but I get it - Cuaron was a lock for it.
Disappointed that Idina Menzel's performance was a little off - apparently that is NOT a song she can just go out and belt out - she had to start training for it again in advance of the Oscars? Crazy.
I was bummed about Indina's performance they rushed her so bad and you could tell she was nervous.
Lupita looked stunning. That blue dress was gorgeous on her and her speech was amazing. Sandra Bullock is always one of my favorites because she always looks classy and gorgeous.
What does Leo have to do to win an Oscar?! (
And I love Ellen. Ellen is fantastic and proved so last night again.
@kbellizio3 He needs to be in a good movie and do well in it? Or go up against lackluster competition? He had no chance this year. None.
I know, I just feel sorry for the guy!
I still think he should have won for The Aviator. His performance in that was amazing. He was also awesome in Wolf of Wall Street, I mean the qualude (no idea how to spell that) scene on it's own was a brilliant piece of acting. But it was definitely a more comedic role and I see why he didn't win. He's turning into the Susan Lucci of the Oscars. When he does win, the announcer is going to be like "This is Leo's first Oscar win and his twelfth nomination."

Jared Leto is gorgeous and so talented..... have loved him since My So Called Life, I was in love with Jordan Catellano (spelled wrong probably). His speech was very well done and his tribute to his mom was amazing, totally teared up. Ellen was hilarious all night and I thought Jim Carrey presenting was very funny as well. My fav dresses were Lupita for sure, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Hudson and Cate Blanchett. I liked Amy Adams as well but found the color a bit boring. Anne Hathaway was lovely as well but maybe too much sparkle up top. Not sure about the worst ones yet, have to get online and do my research. All in all a good show.
For the record, I have a kid, and every year since she was born, we have made an effort to see the majority of the best picture nominees. I saw 8 of the 9, DH saw all 9.
It all comes down to priorities and what you do with the time you have. If you want to see the movies, you can find ways to make that happen. If you don't care about the movies, that's obviously fine, but I"m just tired of people who say things like, "I haven't seen a movie in the theater since long before my kid was born" or my single, childless sister who even just last night said she just didn't have time to devote to seeing movies. If you don't want to see the movies, then just say that. I feel like people too frequently take this "I'm just too busy" self-righteous attitude and I find it tiresome.
Anyone else notice that John Travolta introduced Idina Menzel as Adele??? After saying he was such a huge fan of the arts and broadway? I love John Travolta, but get it together buddy, she's kindof a big deal...
@chickpea912 I hear what you are saying. Movies are something that we say to each other, "I want to see that!" and then we don't make it for some reason or another. There are movies that came out this year that I definitely plan on watching at some point. I assume with a LO we will feel the same way, or maybe we will make a point of going out more when we get the chance.
So, based on seeing 8 of the 9, what do you recommend? Were you happy with the winners?
I LOVED Her - it was brilliant. 12 Years a Slave is a must see, but it isn't an easy movie, so don't see it alone. I really wanted to love Philomena more, but I ended up picking apart parts of it, which made it hard to love love love it. Bruce Dern is amazing in Nebraska.
I was actually really annoyed that Travolta mispronounced Idina Menzel's name. Aside from being a musical theater guy, wouldn't you think that someone who is given the job to introduce someone at an award show would, you know, learn what they are supposed to say out of respect? I know they have teleprompters, but it seems like a common courtesy to at least familiarize yourself with the person you are introducing. Singing at the Oscars was a big deal for Idina and I doubt she was thrilled by the mistake.
I was really happy with the best supporting actor winners. I thought it was so sweet how genuinely excited Jennifer Lawrence looked when Lupita Nyong'o won. I really REALLY wanted Amy Adams to win best actress because I think she deserves a win by now, but I don't think American Hustle was going to be the movie to give that to her. So, I wasn't surprised she lost, but I was still disappointed. And I did not think Cate Blanchett had the most gracious speech.
I love Ellen. The pizza delivery, the selfie, her lovely digs at the actors were all perfect.
I am looking at some pics while watching BGs, what do y'all think of Jlaws hair? Im not digging it
Agreed. I think she should have styled her hair & worn a dress much more age appropriate. Don't get me wrong, her dress is beautiful & her body is amazing, but I think it's a dress for someone past their 20's.
John Travolta is scary. His bad wig, bad make-up, and bad teleprompter reading was embarrassing. Yikes!
Re: Oscar Night
I love the Oscars.
A lot.
And, Jared Leto, amazing!!! Love him.

LOVE Lupita!!!! Everything about her!!!
Kate Hudson is stunning as always.
Between Somewhere Over the Rainbow and then Wind Beneath my Winds, this is a real tearjerker, lol.
Also, no, Goldie, no! I love her but the plastic surgery makes her look like her character in Death Becomes Her.
