DS is growing way too fast! He has pretty much skipped 9 months clothes and has gone into 12 months clothes. I had stupidly tried to buy some clothes ahead last year I won't be doing that anymore (I hope my sis has a boy lots of never worn clothes headed her way). We spent about an hour today trying on clothes trying to figure out what he can and cannot wear. He loved this! (Not really) The sizing on the clothes is all over the place. DS is just over 20llbs and is 26.5 inches long. Any suggestions on clothing brands? Want to rant about baby clothes? Their price compared to use and quality? Want to post pics of adorable babies in cute outfits?
ETA trying to get pic to work. :::giving up. Must be too old for interwebs:::: hides head in shame Not too old after all yay!!
Agree with PP, Garanimals are great, comfy and very affordable. Once they hit the 18 month size, selection for the baby items like onesies are super-slim. It's hard having a bigger baby, Osh Kosh isn't very stretchy but they seem to run bigger.
@dhaueisen You are smarter than me! My sis buys all of her clothes ahead and does great but this will not be the case for us. Lesson learned! I will look up that brand online. Thanks.
@jdoud77 I keep thinking he will plateau and stay in a size for awhile. He was tiny at first and he wore newborn forever! (2 months, seriously) since then I can't keep up. I noticed that they stop making onesies and footed stuff around 12-18 months tshirts always ride up and show his belly.
There is not a once upon child here. I have some clothes from my sis and we are just going to make do until it warms up a little. It's in the 70s today but high of 48 tomorrow.
I'm working on this today. So frustrating all of the cute outfits ds never got to wear because he outgrew them too fast. No advice, but I'll be following this thread.
Susanb887 I've noticed the shrinkage also. The new clothes I have are way bigger than the ones my sister gave me. I have warned her for her next one that the sizes are really going to be off.
DaisyZH he has a 6 month Oshkosh onesie outfit that he can still wear, barely. But the 9 month Oshkosh overalls are too small. But I agree I think overall they run a little bigger. I haven't tried garanimals but I will now. Thanks.
I stick to a few brands that I know exactly how they fit LO. I buy almost all Carter's and Gymboree with some Old Navy thrown in. Carter's is on sale all the time, and we have a Gymboree outlet about 45 min away. I almost never try new brands because I don't want to deal with the frustration of a bad fit.
With the clothes you can't use, have a garage sale or consign them! We have a huge box of clothes we need to consign that we bough/acquired before I realized how different brands/fits are.

If you haven't, try moxiejean.com for resale. They send you a mailer bag, you fill it up and send it back, and you get either credit with them or they send you a check. It's super easy.
Baby clothes...my favorite topic I have shopping issues for both kids. For me, especially as they get older (6-12 months), I like pieces that wash and wear well and also has resale value. My favs for girls are Zutano, Boden, and Tea. For.boys Gymboree, Boden, and Target. I also like how Oshkosh fits my son.
I have almost the same issue, and I've found that now that she is in the slightly bigger sizes, Crazy 8 size 6-12 fits her really well and will for a while. Thank goodness!
I only ever buy clothes for LO is it's on sale. She grows way too fast. I also shop thrift stores or consignment. It's hard trying to figure out what brands work for her height and weight wise.
This is exactly what I do! But I tried doing it too far in advance to get the awesome end of season deals. not going to work.
I love Once Upon a Child, a consignment store in my area. I get all my LO's clothes there. I can buy 30 items for $100. Great bargains and tons of the things I buy still have the tags in them and have never been worn. I love some other stores for kids' clothes, but the prices are outrageous for the number of times the kids will wear them.
The more time that passes the more I like Carters. I also like gymboree they have the 6-12 sizing like crazy 8 but I don't think gymboree's clothes wear as well as carters. I'm definitely going to be checking out some of these brands.

I shop the carter and gymboree outlets too. As DS gets bigger he's less willing to take part in shopping which is why I really want "go to" brands that I trust sizing and etc.
My sis and I are sharing baby stuff so everything will just go to her or I would most certainly send this stuff to consignment.
I got a copy of my kids' growth chart from their pedi and use it to estimate their sizes when buying ahead. I also take stuff that fits currently and use them to estimate how well new items are sized for my kids.
I agree that selection goes down in larger sizes, and second-hand is the way to go at this point when possible.
That's brilliant. We can always count on you for great advice. Thanks!
I really like the jumping beans brand from kohls. They sell tons of separates amd are always in sale. DS in in 9 months for onsies but I buy 12 month pants because I don't mind rolling them over. carters onsies are ok by the pants are too tight for his chubby thigh's. I feel like he's going to grow out of 9 months real quickly and only have a few things in that size.
I wish the sizing wasn't all over the place! I prefer Carter's and Little Me brands and I haven't been able to find footie pjs and sleep and plays above 9 months size. My guy is 5.5 months and the pj options seem slim!!!
