Tmi question

I tried to see if anyone else might have posted about this, but it's a little personal and I didn't see anything. Does anyone else have more vaginal discharge than usual?? It was so bad I needed to change underwear! I don't think it was a case if water breaking cause it wasn't a gusher or anything. I guess I just want to know if it's normal or something I should call the dr about. Thanks in advance for anyone's response!

Re: Tmi question

  • Increased discharge is normal. A sudden increase (especially if it changed consistency like more watery and change in color) I'd mention it to your OB just in case. But I've gotten to the point I have to change a panty liner at least twice a day. But everyone's different.

  • Thanks! It's my first baby so I think I'll give a call
  • FTM here so I'm not an expert . They did just mention this at my birthing class and you should call your OB or MW about this , just in case. If it's a lot of watery discharge or a different color than usual, your OB or MW may want to examine you and check on your LO.
  • If I didn't wear pantyliners, I'd be changing underwear multiple times a day. It's totally normal but like a PP said, if it suddenly changes in amount, consistency, colour, or smell (amniotic fluid is supposed to have a different smell), then call.

  • I change my undies 2-3 times a day. I ended up with chafing and a rash that I had to apply a cream to because I ignored the damp panties. Now I change them regularly.

  • Thanks.. Comforting to know I'm not the only one!
  • FTM here as well so I got checked when it first started happening, was told it was normal my cervix was closed and no amniotic fluid was coming out so now like pp I wear pantyliners to feel dry and avoid chafing
  • Uh yeah! Some tmi but I've always had a little here and there before pregnancy and wore liners often but now yeah it's been like freaken Niagara Falls I'm telling you...I've gone through so many liners to Save me from doing laundry. I'm crazy though and if the liner is even a tiny bit wet I change it!

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Completely normal, especially later in pregnancy. It can be clear and watery, creamy, sticky and globby, or any combination thereof. As PPs said, a sudden big gush could be cause for concern (though a drippy feeling when you exercise or when you stand up after sitting or lying down for a long time is considered normal), but overall increase is typical. I wear an ultrathin pad with wings to feel fresh and keep my panties dry.

  • I called the healthline during my last pregnancy and they told me to go to the hospital right away and get it checked.  Turns out it was normal discharge, but the dr and nurses said that it was good to go and get it checked, because it was similar in description to amniotic fluid.  It was just a quick swab to find out for sure.

  • I have some when I wipe so I can get away without panty liners. Some days it's a lot, some days not so much.

It never hurts to bring it up at your appointment if it's worrying you.
  • Thanks! I will
  • I have it all day, errday. Fun stuff.
  • I've had this issue for several weeks and basically just have to buy liners in bulk. It's fun times! I think it's perfectly normal as long as the increase isn't sudden, gushing, etc.

  • Spoke to my dr and everything is a ok! She said as long as there's no blood and it didn't seem like the water breaking that we're all good!
