LO is 13 months old. I pumped 4 x a day at work since she was 9 weeks old. I'm away from home for about 11 hours, so it came out to be about every 3 hours. Starting at 11 months, I gradually started dropping pumping sessions. I have been down to just 1 pump a day since the beginning of January. I started decreasing the time on that session and was down to 5 minutes this past week. On Thursday and Friday, I tried not pumping. I did hand express some for comfort. Well, now I have mastitis again. I've had it 5 times before ( all prior to starting pump weaning). All the other times I've had it, it was my right breast. This time it's my left. I'm encouraged that my right breast did ok, but am frustrated and worried that this means I'm going to have to keep pumping, even if it's just for a few minutes. I often have meetings at lunch and have patients scheduled every hour of the day, so pumping is a huge PITA. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this last pumping session completely? I thought I was doing the right thing by going about it gradually. Also, I am already taking lecithin 1200 mg 3x a day. I nurse LO around 6:30 every morning and then again at 6:00 in the evening as soon as I get home, as well as throughout the night (we bed share). Thanks for reading! Any advice on how to get rid of this last session without getting mastitis again is greatly appreciated!
