Hi ladies...Curious as to what you did with left over drugs/meds from the process. I have a lot of progesterone and other meds left over and want to clear out. Do you just throw it out? Can you donate it?
I gave some of my PIO back to my doctor's office early on because I was allergic to ethyl oleate. So I gave them the unopened vials. I was just thinking about what to do with the rest the other day. I feel a little safer now about getting rid of it as it will probably expire before I need it again, even if things go bad for me. I plan to call my RE's office to see if they want it or know where I can donate it. I may post on 3T or TTGP to give away my opks and hpts that are going to expire soon.
I donated my Menopur, needles and syringes to a friend who is OOP but still have a fair amount of unopened Bravelle and Endometrin. I know my REs office will accept it as a donation either for OOP patients or for people who need an extra dose sooner than they can get it from their pharmacy (which really helped me when I needed some new meds immediately after ER). I've also considered doing the donation through OOP Meds on here but haven't made up my mind. My med expire in August so I still have some time.
Ok..so it seems like I am not the only one wondering what to do with it. My expiration is also August so we wont be needing them that quickly for our own use again. Would love to donate just don't know how or where to check out. I know the place that we went through doesn't take them...hmm.. Thanks ladies.
My husbands cousin is in the process and she occasionally gets discounts on meds from her doc by asking if he has any leftovers from previous patients.
Oh dear! I didn't know they would expire! I was planning on hanging on to them for kid number 2. I have the kind of menopur that you mix with sodium chloride (it's freeze dried in the bottle). How do I find the expiration date ?

I believe both the vial of Menopur and the packaging they come in (mine came in a box of 5 vials of Menopur and 5 vials of saline) had the expiration date on it.
I was like a lot of the other girls, I didn't want to deal with it right after a BFP and then I wanted to keep it around "juuuust in case!" I think mine expires this summer, so I have a little bit of time to decide what to do with them.
As for the OPKs and HPTs I donated those to my friend who is TTC. She's having trouble though, so I'm also thinking of keeping some of the injects for her, just in case she starts needing them before they expire... If she doesn't then I'm leaning towards donating to the RE's office.
Our office told us to keep our extra meds until the baby was actually born and then to donate. Each clinic has different policies but ours accepts it as a donation and gives it to someone without insurance coverage goin thru IF.
Oh and if your meds have expired, check with your RE only- mine will accept those to use for training purposes. I've seen them in te consult rooms with big "expired" stickers all over them.
We have a friend who is starting IVF this month and is OOP. We had enough follistim & menopur to cover her entire cycle (leftovers after our 4 IVFs). I have a few doses of ganirelix and two progesterone vials that I plan to give to our RE's office for other patients that are OOP.

Oh, pooh! I just looked and they expire in December! I doubt we're going to want to try again that quickly . . . . . .
I was lucky enough to receive some meds through the OOP meds program here mentioned above and I passed on all my remaining meds when we were finished with the last fresh cycle. Since we are not doing anymore fresh cycles, only frozen, all I am holding on to are the left overs from our FET. If they end up expiring before we get to use them, I'm passing them along in the program too.

I donated mine to the REs office. They keep track of what you donate and if you need something again down the road and they have it, they'll try to give it back to you. More of an exchange than a donation. But it keeps expensive meds from going to waste.
We won't do another fresh ivf, but do have a frosty that we will use when doc gives us clearance.

Ok..thanks ladies. I will double check with the agency we used again. Maybe I was mistaken. It would be nice if they could get used by those who need it.
