Domperidone?

Having a low supply and the lactation consultant recommended this medication to me. She also mentioned its not FDA approved in the US ... How do I go about getting this? I live in the Midwest if that matters.

Re: Domperidone?

  • You just need to find a compounding pharmacy in your area (I just looked them up on Google.) You might want to call a few of the ones you find and ask what they charge for Domperidone. It can be pricey, and the amounts I was quoted actually varied kind of a lot.

This. I've been using the generic (Vomistop) for about 10 months with no problems. It should be much cheaper at inhousepharmacy.biz than with a compounding pharmacy.

ETA: Domperidone really helped my supply and allowed us to stop supplementing.

  • I was taking 40 mg 3 x a day, but I've tapered down to 10 mg 3x a day now that LO is older.

  •  FDA issued a warning against it in 2004 so it's not available in the U.S.. I heard it's considered safe to be taken over a longer period of time as compared with reglan.

  • My LC says reglan is connected with formula companies and domperidone is not.
