My mil told my dh that our lo should be chewing on "chops" and why haven't I made any lamb or beef chops for him yet. Is this a thing? He is having a hard time swallowing steamed carrot bits at the moment. Not sure he needs to be chewing meat off a bone.

She also is asking if he is sitting up on his own and crawling. She has my dh thinking out lo is really behind. He is fine and right on track.

I'm really pissed by her remarks to be honest.

    Thank The Lord! My dh is now obsessed with me giving him a "chop". He said he is going to the store to buy and make him one today. I think part of this stems from the fact that I use to be a vegetarian. Although I eat meat now, I don't eat it often and don't eat pork, lamb etc.

    I'm so pissed off. I'm tired of his mom interfering.

    We let J gnaw on a pork chop bone. :) It's seriously her favorite food (probably because DH makes a mean marinade!).

    @Mrsveinotte I keep asking myself the same question. I know it's craZy but it's making me so angry! DH just left for the store to buy the meat. We aren't doing BLW but it makes me feel better that your baby has had no problems with this.

    I'm just thinking if the little guy can't swallow small carrot pieces this probably is too much andplusalso none of her business.

    I haven't yet but g used to love bones. It was like a delicious teether with protein on it for him. He was always supervised at the table with us though. He was a more bLW baby, Arlo really prefers purées right now.
    You know your baby best though. If you aren't comfortable with it, don't do it. There definitely isn't a "need" to feed anyone chops ever!

    Yeah I mean, I think our babies CAN have them but they certainly don't need to have them.  The crawling then, meh we're still in the "average" range so I'm sure that's coming.  By sitting up do you mean sitting unassisted or like, ab flexing to get to a sitting position? :)

    We give our baby everything- meats, etc as we do baby led weaning. Don't let others tell you how to raise your child. Whenever my mom or my mil gives me unsolicited advice I just smile and say ok.

    I sort of wonder if the whole "give your infant a pork chop" is a generational thing. My dad and his girlfriend (she's a bit nutty) visited when B was a little over three months old. The girlfriend wouldn't stop talking about how B wanted a pork chop. She said it at least five different times over the two day visit. I thought she was joking, but now I wonder if she was serious.

    @elmoali by sitting I meant getting himself from crawling position to sitting up position alone. I had to hear how all her kids could do that and were almost walking by now. My lo is right on track. I'm not concerned but annoyed that she's making dh think he's behind.
