Hello all, my LO is 3 weeks now and I've been ep since week 2. LO latched in the hospital , but was not gaining so inwasntold to supplement at our 1 wk appt. tried formula for 2 days til my milk came in and switched to pumping. I always try to nurse throughout the day as well but he just veiny latch. I was told to get a nipple shield, but it won't stay put. Idk of its on wrong or too large or just difficulty to use . He opens super wide for the bottle but looks at me like I'm crazy and starts screaming when I attempt to breast feed? Any suggestions, I don't want to give up on nursing! I will ep if I need to but it's just so difficult.
Thanks
Re: Breast feeding nightmare
I would definitely seek the help of a lactation consultant in person to help with latch issues. I had to use a shield for a while (tiny baby) and the are cumbersome. Make sure you're flipping it so it's about halfway inside out, then rolling it into the nipple/areola so that it sticks better. It's hard to explain in word... The LC can show you in person
