Intro/question for those diagnosed with IUGR at or around 24 weeks

Hello everyone!  I have been lurking and am currently 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant with my second child.  I take 40mg lovenox daily due to a prothrombin mutation and went in to my MFM for a routine growth scan this past week and found out my baby is measuring in the 10th percentile.  She told me that it was a possible developing growth retardation vs. a constitutionally small baby but she wouldn't be able to tell until we looked at subsequent growth measurements.  So the plan is to go in again two weeks later for another growth scan.  I froze and couldn't think of anything smart to ask because I was so surprised that something was wrong.   I have done googling which is freaking me out.   What I wanted to ask those of you with the same diagnosis is how far were you able to progress in your pregnancy?  I read the other IUGR posts and it seems people had been diagnosed later...by their 3rd trimester.   I'm worried that its so early still and I have 13 weeks until I am full term, that this baby won't even make it into 30 weeks.  TIA

    With DD, the IUGR was found at 26 weeks because I was having a follow up US to check a SCH.
    I'm not sure why you think you won't make it to 30 weeks. They usually start with more frequent monitoring and if the womb environment risks become higher than a premature baby or pre-term baby risks, they will take the baby.

    With DD, I had additional complications arise and she was delivered at 36 weeks. For just the IUGR, they were planning on 37 weeks and she was below the 3rd percentile.

    This baby is measuring the 10th and the IUGR was found at 26 weeks again. I have monthly growth ultrasounds due to IUGR with DD and the baby was at the 18th percentile at the previous one, then dropped. My doctor is planning 39 week delivery which may be a week or two earlier if baby drops even more. The only way she will deliver this baby pre-term is if baby is in distress. I also have weekly BPPs.

    Sorry this is so long, I am just confused as to why you are being told baby would be taken so early.

    Thanks for your reply. I wasn't told that but after reading about it, I made that assumption based on what I read. I'm glad you replied because it sounds like I am way off base and I feel so much better.

    I wasn't diagnosed until around 32 weeks, but my understanding is that they usually wait until 37-38 weeks unless complications arise.

    Thanks your for reply. I just had my follow up ultrasound and his growth has decreased to 6% so I received a steroid shot and will be getting ultrasounds once a week. I'm not sure the exact criteria but she plans to deliver if the biophysical profile is non reassuring or if the cord flow reverses or if the fluid levels are low. She is hoping to get me to 34-35 weeks

    I had absent end diastolic flow in the umbilical cord, we found it at 29 weeks. It turned reverse at 32w2d and we did a c/s that day- he was 3lbs and in the 6th percentile. I was on hospital bed rest for 2 weeks, got the steroid shots, and we did daily ultrasounds and NSTs.

    He did wonderfully in the NICU, even though he was small. Trust me- these little guys are feisty! Even though I had him early, his size is catching up with his gestational age. He is currently in the 20th percentile for his adjusted age, and our pedi is quite pleased with his growth! Your little guy will be fine too! :)

    That sounds standard :) good luck!
    I'm in the same boat. 2x a week BPPs and if I start failing them, we may deliver early. So far the fluid keeps dropping, but is still in acceptable ranges.

    I am 30 weeks and my DD is measuring 26 weeks. I have to see my MFM for a 2nd opinion and bc I am high risk they said I may have to deliver early. I understand your concerns. *hugs*
