Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Sleeping at night w/ paci?

My LO will be 5 months March 3. Lately he's been sleeping with his pacifier & tonight I noticed that he is sound asleep with it in his mouth. I'm scared that if I remove it, he will wake up. I also don't want him to choke, god-forbid... Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • Lots of babies sleep with a pacifier.

  • He will be fine. Sometimes my LO keeps it in his mouth and sometimes it falls out once he sleeps. If you are worried sneak it out.
  • It can also help prevent SIDS because it helps them not fall into too deep of a sleep where they could forget to breath (some babies have a slight form of sleep apnea and the pacifier can help)
  • My 5 month old sleeps with one, has from the beginning.  I have also heard it helps prevent SIDS.  I see it as a good thing until they cry every 5 min. when it falls out.  : )

  • Oh wow. Good to know. I had no idea that pacifiers can prevent SIDS. Good to know. The binkys I give my son are new and I discard them after about 2 months or so.
